H22a Install Question.
I am ordering the obd1 h22a motor, ecu, piggy back harness. Has anyone done the wiring before? The guy @ hondamotors said that the wire harness is backwards and i have to use my stock harness and connect to this backwards one?
Any help would be nice. I am ordering the motor tom. along with 100 other things.
More ?'s:
Do i order the prelude intake or CL?
When i shop, dop i shop for the 97-00 prelude or??
I have asked these questions but no |"REALLLY"| knows the real answers because of our rare car.
I know a couple of u's did the swap. So fill me in.
I am hoping to post pictures of the install, that is if i have enough $$$ left over to buy film. LOL.

The wirring harness is different... you have to use the cut prelude harness and splice in into the cl harness... I dont know what wires are which though, you'll need wirring diagrams for both cars.
You need the CL intake... so if you already have one, it can be used.
Parts for the engine will be for a 97-00 prelude, but headers, intake... all that stuff is for the CL. The engine ends up being in the same place the f23 was in... so even the stock CL exhuast manifold can be used.
I'm pretty sure the prelude CV shafts will be used.

thanx. i kind of figured all that. I am just going to buy the chilton manual for both cars.
Our headers aill not match though. Someone on the board that did the same swap i am doing said that he had to get the h22a headers. which in my case would be for 92-96 prelude Vtec DOHC.
Thanx for the info.
I really just want to make sure i buy everyting before in do the install.

The wiring is a little tricky on jdm motors because the the wire harness is designed to hook up with an ecu on the driver side of a usdm car while the ecu on usdm cars is on the passender side.
Engine parts like cams and pistons etc.. are '92+ honda prelude parts.
Intake is the CL's.
Headers are NOT the CL's. The bolt pattern on the head of an h22a and CL are different so it would be impossible to bolt a CL header to an H22. You must buy the Prelude headers an do some custom work by a muufler shop to hook the headers to the cat and the rest of the exhaust.

thanx for the posts guys. dcsquirm88, I see what your saying about the wire harness. Now i have a whole other vision in my head. I will figure this out. I couldn't grasp this concept because of all the running around and brain farting i have been doing to get thuis done. Your right about the headers I ordered prelude headers and will take my car to my muffleer guy after my swap.
I'll keep you guys posted.

Now i was just reading off h22a.org that on aN accord the driver side motor mount does not match up so you will have to buy the prelude. Does anyone know anything about the cl?
I know the accord and cl are pretty much the same but just to be sure.
