H22 or Type R.?!?!
Alright people its been awhile and I gots some questions.
Im trying to get a student loan for a car. And I am leaning towards a del Sol.
I found two that are around my budget. More so one. But possibly can talk down the other. But yea. One has a full H22 a1 swap and the other has a full integra type R swap. Each has other aftermarket add-ons. I just need some opinions. Which engine is better, more reliable and easier to TURBO. . But yea i will turbo eventually. heres the links
H22

Type-R

Tell me what you think.
Thanks peeps!

That integra off craigslist looks sick. I also can't believe the h22 fits in that small ass engine bay. That's great!
Correct me if i'm wrong guys, don't you have to be careful when boosting the h22 because its compression and the head not being as amazing as my good ol f22s? (lol)
I gots no clue, but I see turbo tegs more so than h22s.

Holy crap, 3.0 to a del sol with a crazy motor. I'm partial to the H series, its got more torque and HP for that little car but its also heavier. The H22 one looks like a sleeper and the Type R one looks like you'd have to do pretty much no work to it since its already built to the T. Personally i'd go sleeper and make at least the exterior and tuning my own since the Type R one is already done.

im a turbo whore but not for a DD cus they get expensive. if this is going to be your DD i would go for the type r motor just because the last car i drove with a h22 in it(90 crx HF) it cornered like ass. theres only a 35lb difference between the H-series motor and trans vs. the B-series engine and trans. But the H22 makes roughly 30ft lbs. more torque.

a del sol? i hope your joking. I realize the potential of little cars with turbo/large engines but the concept just doesn't appeal to me.
what about storage, practicality? extra seating?

I dont need any. I only drive with 1 person in the car. I dont need to store anything. And there is a trunk. May not be much of one. But I just drive to school and work and back? In the turbo'd del Sol what motor is that. The stock vtech del sol motor?

I wasn't being negative. Honestly, your last few threads were kinda iffy. If you post something for people to discuss, especially a car you want to buy, expect varying opinions, good and bad. I can guarantee you, unless you buy another CL, you will never get 100% positive feedback.

im not a fan of del sol's either but i wont rip you for liking them, thats why i bought a crx instead. they are cheap and when you walk a corvette it feels damn good. as far as expenses for teh turbo swiftt, well just think you HAVE to run premium through it, it creates a lot of stress on other parts of your car also not just the motor. i had a turbo on a DD and it got old fast. i had to warm up the turbo first before i could really I spent a small fortune on replacing cv joints. a turbo is an expensive moving part, and it requires a thoughtful driver - you know, let the oil heat up before winding it up past 2500 RPM, idle the motor to cool it off after a heavy run. (If you shut it off just after the turboes are spooled up, you overheat the oil and can damage the turbos.) In general, the turbos are a higher stressed engine, so by definition you'll have more issues.

and what others were saying, a del sol is a pretty unpractical. 2 seats, a trunk that cant even hold the body of a skunk, and its pretty small, so if youre in a bad accident, forget about it, you're done.
and for the love of god do NOT use a student loan to buy a car. when you graduate, you dont want shitloads of debt to deal with.

I thought it'd be cool to ask becuase the one had an H22 swap after all. And I would be paying for the car. hopefully paying it off before im out of college. Hoping to get a good cosigner so i dont get raped by interest. Anywho. I do appreciate all of the comments and such. I think the skirts and the rear lip make the black one look pretty sweet. And Id love to get the turbo one because who wouldnt want that. A say 6K$ loan isnt that much. I still need to talk to my schoool and see what kind of student loan rates there are. MAybe Ill get a loan from the ba k my dad is the VP of lol. MAybe they'll hook me up.
So all after all. the turbo would be sweet but the expenses will kick my ass. And if it came down to the other twos engines the H22 wins no doubt but the Type R swap has the coilovers and lips. Damnit. Decisions Decisions

idk. I want something with more power. And even more rarity. And with those swaps and stuff yea.
So the Type R you say BlackAck. That one looks the most bad ass to me. BUt it doesnt have as much torque as the H22. So the H22 would be faster yea?

^^in theory it should, the motor and tranny on a h22 only weigh about 30 lbs. more but you get a lot more torque in return
wanna talk about rare swaps, i once test drove a CRX with an acura legend v6 motor in it. that was some torque. didnt buy it because it was a homebrew setup that was hard to shift cus the way the motor had to mount and a few other things.

Duuuuuuuude.........not a DelSol..
I forbid my friend to get a Miata when he wrecked his Ford Taurus because I didn't want him to die. Sure enough, he got T-boned driver side last summer when he got his Taurus fixed. It was minor but if he was in a Miata or DelSol, he probably would have been toast. Tiny cars ftl...........althought a Smart car would be sick.
