Thumbs down Guess what I blew...

Well, my clutch is gone and I broke an axle racing at Texas Motorplex out in Ennis. Towing was fucking $340.

Got nothing but wheel hop in first and second gear. My first run, I shifted early from 2nd to 4th gear cause I was soo pissed that the fucking thing wouldnt stop jumping, and managed to get a 16.6 @ 94mph just cruising with a 2.4 in my 60'. My second run, I blew my clutch and snapped my axle by the end of 1st gear going into 2nd.

You live, you learn...

Well glad to hear you and it are okay... clutch shouldnt take too long to replace (dont know about the axle.. were these custom to be able to sustain the power from the 3.5?)

PS - time for some slicks.. lol

Slicks would have snapped his axle like a twig on the first run

Are you running stock axles or modified ones?

I guess its time to look into beefed up axles.

How ever much the parts cost...$49 for the axle, and the clutch i'll have to wait and see what it runs for.

I like to push my luck. But this was just something bound to happen. The clutch I knew was toast anyways. I got signs of that back in Cali. And as for the axle, well that was a surprise.

Already have 2 polyurethane mounts, and the other two are filled already. As for the suspension, yes, I def need it. I was thinking about the fact that one of the reasons as to why I may be getting mad wheel hop was because I dont have enough suspension travel with my shitty ass set up.

Serious. I launched at 1200 rpms and at 80% throttle. I played with it, and couldnt get it to stop. I would have preferred wheel spin rather than wheel hop. Suxors...

i dont think the travel will matter..

you'l need some big slicks prolly 24.5x8 or wider
stiffer suspension (coilovers definatly)
new change in strategy is definatly needed

Nothing really, you just hear this snap, and that's it. Fucking gear part is stuck in my tranny, and the rest is just hanging there, lol.

Well the suspension def sucks that I have right now. I have the KYB's on a 3 inch drop. They are not meant to be on a drop lower than 1.75". It bounces a lot, and while I took corners, if I were to hit a slight bump, the wheels would get off the ground. You can def tell the suspension sucks when you ride in it. It's not stable, and it simply has no rebound. Yes, coilovers are def needed and it probably played a big part in the wheel hop. As for that, on the streets I've always launched it low and kept the throttle at around 80%. But, on the streets I've never been able to keep it from wheel hoping on a flat surface 40% of the time. Engine damper will be another mod I'll look into.

i am surprised that you dont have an engine damper,,,it makes a very big and noticable difference. I have it on my 01 cls and i makes such a difference... much less wheel hop and also when you cornering the engine doesnt rock with those soft mounts. i think its a must especially for your puppie, i cannot wait till i decide to do a 3.5 set up...
haha anyways just that

and this is how the axle supposed to look like when they say "oh, snap son!"

i did the same shit at my first run on the strip. please, if you can get it upgraded do so, but if not, don't get a generic one (made in China) cause that's what Aidan put when i had him replaced the axle for me before i went to the dragstrip.

also, don't ignore your clutch slipping like that, you gonna end up paying more. i was waiting and hoping to that competition clutch to be release for our car, i've waited and ran with a busted clutch, the clutch ate my flywheel and PP end up paying $1500 to get it replace.

CLs are more than evos. anways, I appreciate the tons of hours of work that you put into your cl more than I would an evo. have you picked up a new clutch yet?
