From: is everything.
I know someone above suggested that they get a red one and wire it to brake lights. It gives me an idea for Ampd... I am not sure what brightness your LED's are, but you could use a white/red bi-color LED setup with a SPDT relay. That would allow it to turn on with parking lights as white, and when the brakes are applied, it switches to red. It would up the cost I am sure, but it would be a neat option. I think the biggest problem (to keep the project simple) would be to find a bi-color LED that uses the same voltage on both color legs.

That would be sweet. Is that reasonably doable? I was thinking try out the white one, and if I didn't like it, color the LEDs red or cover them in red cellophane and try brake light thing. Not sure how well that would work..

Thanks Tehvine,

Yes, it has been suggested. I have started the design process and potential for it. Right now there are a few issues that need to be worked out. Will let all know when and if it is workable.

As I'm looking at your shop, Ampd, I'm realizing the standard wire length is 1.5 feet. It is $7 more for 5 feet, and $17 more for 10 feet. Since our emblems are on the trunk, we are going to have to run these up the trunk lid, down the trunk arm, and then back to the tail lights. I'm not at my car, and it's raining so I'm not going out there and measuring, but it seems like we would need the 10ft wire length to reasonably manage this install.
So with the extra $10 for being a CL, and the extra $17 for what we probably need for wiring, plus the $7.76 (I think) for shipping, the total for this product would essentially be $130 dollars.
Group buy is -$24.95

So final price with group buy is basically $105.

If someone wants to use the emblem only with the brake lights and has a spoiler to attach the the wiring to, then the group buy price could come down to about the listed $88, because the extra wiring would not be needed.

Is there anything I'm missing? It would be nice if we didn't have to pay 17 extra bucks just to use the product, aside from the $10 penalty for owning a CL

Correction!
Just went out and measured. The wiring for the tail light is actually pretty close to the trunk arm.
So we CAN use 5ft wiring, but certainly can't use the 1.5ft wiring.
So group buy price is more like $95!

Edit: I hope I'm not coming off as complaining. I'm just trying to give the other CL guys a heads up on pricing that may not be apparent.

Hey Shnee,
Thanks for the input. I understand your points.

Remember the original models were all models that had the license plate wiring right near the emblem. So the 1.5ft was a non issue. The only reason one would get and pay for the extra wiring, (Remember...the 10' is acutally 20' of wire. The 5' is actually 10' of wire. Red and Black.) is if they wanted to hook it up to the brake lights or an alternate source such as the parking lights. An option.

Then I got inquiries about the CL. As you all know, the 1G CL is a very thin emblem. Also, it comes with a tiny strip of adhesive foam tape that only is on the top and bottom sections of the emblem, as opposed to the TLs and the newer CLs. Therefore, first, to build the emblem, takes a lot more time, and second, the lack of a complete circle of adhesive foam tape, which my design requires, forces me to use my suppliers of 3M automotive foam tape. (around $200.00 per roll!) Then, cutting that foam tape for a clean and professional fit takes more time and skill.

I realize that the costs are more than the 3G TLs, but it is due to my increased costs and time. I'm not penalizing the CL owners. I was trying to offer a product that these owners wanted. I hope you don't look at it as me trying to punish the CL owners. In fact the development was the exact opposite. I was trying to satisfy potential customers and AZ members.

I hope you understand

Sincerely,
Ampd

the CL penalty thing was completely in jest

I understand your pricing, and I am excited about your product. Actually, I was on your shop page because I was considering just ordering it outright.
I was just trying to be helpful, pointing out to everyone that it will actually be a little more than it appears on its face.

I am getting a little antsy and just want this group buy to go through!
I just ordered a slew of bulbs to try out different setups in my corner lights, so I'm on a bit of a light-buying spree. I want to swing this group buy price ASAP, while my clickin' finger is taking a break from using up all my spending money!

Hey CL owners.

All wire prices have been recalculated and discounted! Check them out!

Also, there have been a lot of questions about installation manuals and what is included with your purchase of an Amp'd Emblem. The FAQs and product title sections are now updated on the website and online store.

Thanks,

Ampd

Steve comes through with the customer service once again. The clients speak, and the business listens. What a novel idea!? You should open a business management consulting firm. Seriously.

Let's see some CL pics guys! Looking forward to it along with the front emblem product development! lol.

I know when someone gets it and posts pictures, more people will want it.
I think it's kind of hard to get 10 from the get go, when nobody has seen it on our cars yet.

Not sure what you mean about where we're getting the hype from. I guess we all like it, so we want it
Isn't that how it usually goes?

Let's get some more people on this GB for a unique yet subtle mod!

Guys, the Group Buy offer hits the end at March 31st. You all have your info I sent you though, which does not expire.

Heard from the 2001 CL owner that has an Amp'd Emblem. He said he will be posting pics and info soon.

Found the cord will post today or tomorrow. Depends when I fall asleep today. I wired mine up to the cyclops brake light I didn't want it running all the time no point when you can't see it glow too well during the day.

I have said this, and learned, that it is very difficult to take a true representation of ....light....in the dark.

But it definitely looks bright!
