Grounding your amp?

I hooked up my system today and apparently the bolt in the truck is a bad ground, my amp just shuts off if i turn it up to like 12 volume on the deck. Anyone have a successful ground they're currently using?

Thanks

sounds more like a fuse thats too small. eather way i grounded my amp to a bracket in the trunk with a bold and i sanded the paint away from the grounding point.

Where the stock rear speaker screws come through into the trunk is where I grounded both my amps. I just used a dremel to get the paint off around it, and then found a small nut to fit on that screw...there you have it. It has worked well for me.

Sounds like a short or bad ground. The bolts behind the tail lights gave me a shitty ground. I SEARCHED on here, and found that using one of the bolts from your rear struts works great. I just hooked up my ground wire to that last night, and it's a great ground. Use one of the bolts from your rear upper strut. Also use a volt meter and make sure that you're getting enough power, and as lc said, that your amp isn't a pos

I have it all set now.. it was a bad ground, I moved it to the rear strut and sanded the paint off it and now it's great and hitting hard as ever!

or the best ground to go for is the back seat belt bolt. I use it everytime and never had a problem yet
