Got screwed by Rosenthal Acura

A few months ago the fuel pump went out on my '99 3.0. It was still under the factory warranty so I took it to Rosenthal to get it replaced.

Recently I replaced the stock stereo and pulled out the carpet in the trunk. Now there is a 6"x6" hole in the trunk right over the fuel tank with a piece of thin plastic pop-rivited over the hole. WTF

What should I do?

Thanks!

That's Bullshit !! Take it back and ask them what is the procedure. They should have dropped the tank. Show the Service manager and demand an explaination.

yeah i would call, and go back in and talk to the service manager, get his name and what not, and use that in your call if you don't get satisfaction at the dealership.

Damn!

They should have dropped the fuel tank!

I would definitely get their attention and correct the problem!

They probably can do a better repair job to the hole they cut into your trunk, PLUS further/future compensation for their TOTALY inappropriate way they approached a warranty repair.

However, I would call Rosenthal first, then contact Acura if Rosenthal doesn't respond to your satisfaction.

What's the word man. I seriuosly wouldn't give this dealership the chance to fix it, if you want real compensation you get in touch w/ Acura Customer Service, this is COMPLETE bullshit!

Anything going on with that? I've had my RSX-S and my CL at Rosenthal for Service. Actually Rosenthal did the MD inspection for my CL. No problems with their service department so far. I hope it works out for you. If not complain, complain and complain!

Good luck.

I just emailed them and said I saw this post on a popular Acura forum and I will never consider doing business with them nor recommending them to anyone.

Lets see what kind of passing the buck response I get.

Speaking of passing the buck:

I called up the Acura customer service and the weenie on the phone wouldn't even admit that it was faulty repair work. He just told me to take it back to the dealer and call him back if it dosn't get resolved.

Not trying to protect Acura...but honestly, you can't expect them to know exactly what the problem is and what is going on over the phone. I'm sure that they will help you out if the problem with the dealer persists. Hopefully this will work out for you, with just compensation etc.

As CLpower said, another Acura service location might be a good idea to ultimately have the problem corrected, like Tischer Acura or Pohanka and Radley (Woodbridge) in VA.

My advise is simple:

STAY AWAY FROM ANYTHING WITH THE 'ROSENTHAL' NAME ON IT!

I lost my previous (favorite) Civic to head gasket issues because they didn't do the recommended maitenance correctly. Of course, they CHARGED me the correct amount, they just didn't do the work.

Everyone I know of that has dealt with there service department for anything other than regular oil change stuff has had issues. I won't go near them, anymore.

You should certainly not let them get away with that garbage repair, no matter how much of a PITA it is to slam them for it.

WHat a bunch of lame ass mechanics that pulled this stunt off .The proper procedure to pull the pump is to remove the fuel tank completely from the car and then get at the pump replacement .You can service the fuel tank sending unit (thing that indicates fuel level ) while the tank is in the car however the fuel pump requires the tank to be removed .Step one photograph the hole number two get your repair order from the time of the actual repair number three fire off an ANGRY letter to the dealership and then to Acura Customer Care followed up by phone calls.Bottom line that was a hack job because some schmuck felt he could cut corners .The hole no doubt is right above the fuel pump .However this is not proper precedure they knew it now you know it too .I would bust balls and be pissed .Chopping holes in cars is no way to fix cars end of story .

They get paid per job and the warranty pays them to do it properly. X amount of hours to do X job.

If they are taking 1 hour to do a half assed job and getting paid by the warranty for 5 hours, (@50+ $ per hr) Acura Care wouldn't be happy.

Wonder what other $hit they've been getting away with. Gives Acura a bad name.

Call your warranty and let them know. Local dealer is ripping You and Acura off!
