Angry Got Rearended in Quebec

So I was going to watch the fireworks festival in Hull last night and there was a sudden change in traffic as people started braking unexpectedly. My friend in front of me managed to stop, i managed to stop and so did the guy behind me in a Focus. The guy behind him however did not and this is the result of him hitting the focus and focus hitting me.

doesn't look too bad. I mean, ya, it sucks, but your trunk and lights look OK, a new bumper cover and clips should do the trick, unless there's frame damage.

no frenchies were involved except the cops who couldnt speak english for the life of them. As for the damage, the bumper itself is bent, not the cover, the right rear fender is bent where its rusted and the trunk doesnt close properly either

not a big deal though, you're not at fault here. Just find a good shop of your choice and file a claim. you get a brand new bumper and whatever else you need replaced. Sucks every time it happens but that's life.

Last year I t-boned an SUV when I had the right of way and he was at the one way stop sign but jumped in front of me the very last second when I was really close. Trashed my front bumper and some plastic parts around it and I cracked his rear wheel and probably bent his axle. I guess his was lucky to get hit in the wheel and not get any body damage whatsoever. Otherwise it would've been worse for both cars. Insurance took care of me no problem. No deductibles, no increases.

So i got 2 quotes today. One from my local Acura dealership at $3744, including the rear quater panel and one from a body shop for $2000, no quater panel and non OEM parts. Ideally my insurance will pay for Acura to do it, hopefully

Acura don't do it themselves, they send it to an authorized shop somewhere in the vicinity. I was not very happy with the results of the "Acura approved shop" to be honest. I think you should go to another shop that does use factory parts but is not ascociated with Acura. You can talk to them more freely and maybe even get some things paid by insurance that are not broken but you wanted to replace. Maybe a new muffler or something like that if you know what I mean.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. It's a good thing you didn't slam into your friend in front of you and in turn have front end work to take care of too.

take the insurance check. i dont think they are gonna pay you 3800 for a fender bender like that, but who knows?. buy a new bumper support, bumper, get it painted (paint will probably not match rest of the car 100% unless it is blended which will cost more money, but oh well). will probaly cost about 1000 for everthing if you install the bumper yourself. use the rest of the money for something else.

latest update ... the insurance company is refusing to do anything until the have the police report which THEY can get in 6-8 weeks. My broker isnt doing anything and I've spent the whole morning on the phone with ppl that dont speak english calling police departments, ministry of transportation and the like. hope fully i can find my report 2day. This is fucking frustrating..

It looks like you fared out okay though since it didn't buckle the sheetmetal. Those bolt on parts are no problem.

On second look, it looks like the right side buckled...Bummer

yup, the right side is fucked, probably since it was weakened due to rust. No luck with the police report 2day, its somewhere in the system but I cant get it. The issuing police department told me that the ins company is feeding me bullshit, they should have it way sooner. I will be switching insurance companies once this is over, i can't possibly imagine what kind of service this is when they're doing fuck all to help me and i will be also asking for this months refund; this is not what i pay for, to drive a totaled car for weeks.

So the insurance company finally authorized repairs and sent me to a shop of their choice for an estimate, will a shop of my choice(Local Acura dealership) must use as a guide line. So now there is a difference in price of well over a 1000 and the ins company is bringing their appraisor to look at the car. The guy at acura told me that a write off is very possible. If that's the case, ill be very sad to let this car go. Spent some time 2day looking at something else. Found a few good deals on a GSR and a Legend. What do y'all think?

the GSR i saw has 200KM on the clock, for 5000 CAD. another one has 22X on the body, 75KM on the rebuilt b18, for 7500. Only issue i have with a teggy is that they're way too small for me, im 6'4". Thats why a CL is so perfect. I'd go for another CL but there are none for sale ATM in my little village of Ottawa. I'm also looking at preludes but i'd absolutely want an H22a but 13k is way out of my budget, for a small, impractical car.

idk about the honda theft in canada, but i would be too shook to have a GSR in my neck of the woods. im scared enough as it is now to have an H22 swap, especially now that my neighbor saw shady looking characters, stopping in front of my car for a few mintues, but dippin when he came outside.

thats probaly what i get for knowing to many ppl in the local honda scene and posting on b20vtec.com. lol

Got a call this morning from the body shop. The good news is that they're going to fix everything. The bad news is that it's gonna take 9 days and the rust on the right rear quater is gonna cost me 250$

so i got the CL back this afternoon, good news first; i paid for the rust repairs, she looks real nice, also got a free alingment and just glad to have it back. bad news gets real bad. I scratched the rental car on the side pulling into my friends ghetto driveway, the estimate is a whopping 1400 to paint 2 doors and side skirt plus straighten the skirt. I have a feeling they're ripping me off. Cuz my initial estimate for my car was 1800 and change...no way can paint and some moulding cost almost as much as bumper cover, rail, tail lamp, and painting of trunk lid, bumper and quater panel. Also they could only find a rear bumper cover from a 2.3 so my rear lip is painted but the rest are still black, it looks stupid. so now im really fucked as i dont have the money to fix the rental...i have no idea what im gonna do.
