Good Deal?give me your input
I am consitering buying an 97 acura 2.2 cl manual trans. 43k miles he(dealership) was asking $13,995 for it i talked him down to $12,000 cash out the door tax included. I was wondering if any of you guys thought i should go for this deal or what? This will be my first car being purchased by myself so i was also wondering what things should i look for to make sure its a solid car. I've already ran a carfax on it and everything came up clear. Thank you guys for all your time. I'll keep you posted on my decision.

A good deal? Maybe You should book it out on line, www.kbb.com I did it for you
Trade in $8500
Private Party $10,100
Retail $12,400
(using a NorthWest Zip, maybe prices are different where you are)
$12,000 is putting a whole lot of cash, profit,in someones pocket!
You don't wan't to pay retail, you'll be upside down from the moment you give him the cash.
I'm only saying this because I paid retail, and when the tranny went out 6 months later I was $5000 upside down, there only going to give you trade-in at a dealer, when your so pissed you want to get ride of it now.
as they say... just my .02

hard decision
This is a really hard decision because cars like this dont pop up that often. They ask $17k-$20k for 97-01 prelude, and id rather not have a civic or something in that area.

That's not bad, if it's including tax. Ask them to throw in an extended warranty. It really doesn't cost them anything (unless you use it alot).
I did my best wheeling and dealing, and then before I walked out, they gave me a 3 year/36K warranty for free!

was it your cl that you bought retail that the tranny went out on? if so could you tell me what year and model? Im going down on friday to talk about everything. For the most part the car is sound as far as i know. I've drove it and everything. Is there anything that is often times overlooked when buying a used car?(of course other than the obvious-ex oil leaks)
