getting scared...someone help, i have a tranny question

I noticed about 2 months ago, a significant bump-stop in my tranny...its shifting a bit harder and it feels like it doesnt know what gear it wants to select. My car is a 99 3.0. I just ran out of my 4 years (5months ago) and I just hit 50,000 miles. I have no extended warranty. What is the deal? I refuse to pay to have it looked at if This is one of the tranny's that need replaced. Is my year of car and tranny in with the extended warranty talked about it the tranny posts?...If not I need to trade it in now before It goes!

did u ever changed ur tranny fluid. If the tranny fuild is really old, it can not perform as well as it used to. also i think they can only check ur tranny but taking it out and apart, and this cost money no matter wat.

I've heard of a "few" instances where dealers were willing to pay for a new tranny on cars that were at 50K.

However, this is probably rare.

Definitely get the fluid changed to see if it helps.

Good luck.

Yup change that fluid and let it do its thing untill it breaks. Mine is holding up pretty good and i got 135,000 on it already an external tranny cooler and better trans fluid will help a little.

I just had my tranny flushed last weekend because it started slipping really bad, and I noticed a huge difference. It's driving like normal now. When they drained it, I was standing around, and I could smell it from like 5 feet away, and it was very dark. My service manual says to change it at 90k, and that's what the shop said hondas and acuras are supposed to go till, but I'm going to change mine more often now. I have 79k on it when I took it in to get it flushed, and I'm pretty sure that it probably hasn't been changed since it was new.
