Gear Grind

ok... this only happens when i rag on my car.

it never fails....... inbetween first and second i always manage to grind the gears a little, but never from second to third, even if i keep the gas floored the whole way. with the 1-2 upshift i always have to get off the pedal a little so i dont grind.... but never in any other gears.

oh.... BTW how many here only use the clutch for 1st and reverse?
i have begun to change gears without the clutch when im just driving around. am i the only one?

I am no mechanic but I think that you may be needing a new tranny soon. If not a new clutch

wish it would break faster... o well.. i have warranty to 100k anyway.

the clutch is fine... i can dump it from 4500, and it spins all the way to the redline. (not so good for the tires tho)

you can drive without the clutch all together.. but your going to ruin your tranny most likely because most ppl dunno how to drive like that.. so don't even attempt it.. no offense. but your prolly doing it wrong.. and thats a bad syncros (the grinding) from trying to clutchless shift i'm sure.. cheap but labor's expensive cuz the trannys coming out

well i drive sometimes without the clutch but i have to pay more attention because throwing it in gear at the wrong time will grind it, its fun cuz a lot of ppl go wtf!! i dont think it messes up the tranny unless u mess up, that would be my guess, i thought if you do it right you actually save your clutch cuz you dont even use it after first gear, but thats a theory ...and you can actually start first gear without gassing your car, just using your clutch...and probably the same in reverse(never tried reverse)...yea the synchros are probably bad with the car ...should go get that checked up...
oh by the way wat is double clutching...heard that in the fast and the furious...never learned wat that meant

when you double clutch youre basically not using the syncro's or the clutch. all the clutch does is it lets you disengage the engine from the tranny. when you downshift, and the clutch engages, it sppeds the engine up to the speed of the car in that particular gear. the syncro's make the transiton inbetween gears a smooth one and one without grinds(my issue).
now back to double clutching. what you do is when you downshift you sit on the gas pedal a just enough so that it slides out gear smoothly. then you rev the engine in neutral to the rpm's at which it would be in the lower gear.

ex. say you are putting around in 4th gear at 60(3500rpm) and you want to downshift. you get it out of gear into neutral. rev the engine to 4500rpm (roughly what the car does at 60 i think) at that point the engine is spinning at the exact speed that the car would have in that gear. all you need to do is just put it in 3rd now. you arent using the clutch to speed up the engine anymore.

dont quote me on the numbers tho.

ugh... no editing after five minutes.. i forgot.

why would anyone one wanna use double clutching durng hard acceleration.... you have to wait for the engine to slow down, so using the good 'ol clutch is quicker when driving hard.

..double clutching was from my understanding hitting the disengaging the clutch and pushing it back in between gears.. like you push the clutch in when you want to shift from 1st to 2nd, and the short time its in nuetral.. you pump the clutch once.. it realigns some good shit.. i never do it.. i just powershift the hell out of it.. i don't have time to be double clutching and risk bouncing off rev limiter with nitrous
