Gauge Needle

Gauge Needle
My questions is if the needle came off, would i still be able to get it back on? it's the fuel one. (so maybe i could fill up the tank and put the needle to full position?)
this is stupid--my needle fell inside the center console while i install gauge face. it didn't break into pieces, but i want to know is if it will worth the hassel to open the center console and find the needle. thanks!

dustbuster4, do u mean i could just put the needle back without ordering new gauge? cause the needle fell inside the console. i don't want to open it up if i can't put it back on the gauge. thanks!
$40 for the gauge and $70 for labor is not small price to pay for stupid mistake....

It should go right back on. I realize that taking the gauge cluster out is somewhat of a pain, but if you're doing it yourself, go for it. Just be very careful; the needles break easily if forced on improperly. If you're paying to have the gauge cluster removed, it may not be worth it (especially if they break it).
I was just curious how you would know that you're getting ready to run out of gas without the needle.

thanks for all the replies. the $70 install is from dealer. if it's easy, maybe i'll just do it myself.
but can someone confirm if the needle can go right back on or not? dustbuster/acura cl 3.0, have u experience this before or know someone had this problem before? thanks!
dustbuster, i'm currently using the trip mileage reading + the light to figure out fuel level. my car runs approximately 120 miles on the 3/4 mark, then 200 miles on 1/2 mark, and 285 miles on the 1/4 mark, 390 to 400 miles when the light comes on. then there's 3 more gallons left in the tank.

If you put the needle back on, the problem is you have to know were the needle has to be reading. For example you have three gallons of gas in your car which is almost empty but you put the needle back on on F for full. Even though the needle is back in the reading it is giving is not accurate. The difference doesn't even have to be a great as that. It going to be pretty hard to put on without being off by a couple of gallons. Your best bet is to fill up your tank and put the needle on right after you do. That way you know you the needle should be on or near (F) full.
That is why you never take off your needles when you install indiglo gauges. Imagine your speedometer being off by a 20 mph or so. When you get pulled over by a cop doing 70mph in a 50mph zone and your speedo was only reading 50mph you will having a hard time getting off. Good luck

That is a pretty good deal if you can get the gauge and installed for a total of 70 dollars. I broke my fuel gauge off also during the indiglo install and it cost 55 just for the gauge itself, so I did the install myself. It was really easy all you have to do is remove the two screws holding it in on the back side of the cluster. Just be very careful when attempting to slide the indiglo cover over the gauge again. Slide the indiglo gauge over the needle bending the gauge and trying not to apply any pressure on the needle. Then with the gauge bent slide it over the backside of the needle. It is such a bitch to get them on, but I think it was worth the hassle.
