Gas mileage?
In my '97 with the 2.2 I tend to get 18-22 MPG. Now, I know that if I lay off the gas pedal and shift earlier, I'd get better mileage. What sort of mileage do you guys gets?
Also, to my knowledge, the tank is a 13 gallon tank. The manual that came with the car says they are 17 gallon tanks. Is this true? When the needle is practically at E the tank takes a solid 12+ gallons.

Its a 17 gallon tank, 2 gallons are reserve. I think I read somewhere that you still have 4 gallons total even when the light comes on.
I usually get 30-31mpg on the freeway (80mph), and mid twenties on the street. I generally dont rev it over 3000rpm, and sometimes 2500. It really does make a big difference when driving stop and go.

Keep in mind auto-drivers, the auto is a 4 speed so it will run at a higher RPM (thus worse gas mileage for an auto tranny).

i usually drive about 80 and thats right around 3200 for my 2.3 auto. last time i refueled i got 16pmg atleast 75% of my driving is highway, as i usually take the turnpike to school. this is with brand new spark plugs (bosch plat+4) and brand new plug wires. could the cap/rotor be the problem? i gather the only things left to change would be that and the supposedly impossible fuel filter. ive already done the full seafoam treatment twice. does this make sense at all to anyone? i havent been able to push 300miles to a tankload in a while, and i usually push it til its more than 15 gallons to refuel. somebody help me yo, i want my gas mileage back!

Should read my gas mileage thread, I made like 2 of them
I never have to take the freeway anywhere so I get terrible gas mileage... haha
I got 19.22 mpg on the last fill up and that's only city driving and I may have red lined it a couple times but the rest of the time I kept it under 3000rpm. This car gets disgusting city gas mileage, but the highway gas mileage I get around 28-35mpg.
But it's only $2.50/gal for regular!!! I only spent $30 filling up my tank last time, definitely a very happy moment.

Intake, K&N, fuel filter
A tuneup usually is changing the spark plugs

I never really thought about checking my gas mileage, but last month I had a tune up done and some serious SeaFoaming done to my 2.3CL 5 speed.
I get, what I think, very good gas mileage. I usually fill up my car with 14 gallons and drive around 400 miles on this tank. I'm hovering around 28mpg. That's mixed highway and urban driving.
About RPMs, I am exactly at 3000RPM at 80mph in 5th.
