Gas Mileage

What kind of gas mileage do we get. It seems like i am feeling up way to much. I have a 97 3.0.

I am guessing it should be like 25.

What can i do to improve it

I usually get around 25mpg. If you want to get better, try driving really nice (yeah right!) or only on the highways. They say that a K&N filter will slightly improve your milage as well, but I dont know if I trust that; anybody have one? Other then that, I dont know of anything.

I filled up my gas tank thursday. And i set the trip.

My light lit up today at like 225 and i filled up at like 230.

Why is my gas mileage so bad. I thought it was supposed to do like 300 maybe even 350.

I do have a V6 3.0 though.

I have a 97 3.0 and I get around 21-24 mpg... It's been said that the 3.0CL is the gas-guzzler of the Honda family... it's sad but true. I also have an automatic, and supposedly that gets worse mileage, too (or is it the other way around... I can't remember for some reason - head block).

Yeah but lets say that i even got 20 miles to the gallon. We have a 17 gallon tank.

20 x 17 = 340 miles

i got only 230.

Even if it were a 14 gallon tank

20 x 14 = 280

What can i do to bring that up.

27.5 on my last tank, and I don't try to conserve fuel. ever. colorado, however, uses ethanol in winter so this should be a worst case scenario.

I am getting like 13.5 miles to the gallon if its a 17 gallon tank.

I am getting about 27 mpg...more than half the mileage between fill ups is highway but some city driving on each tank. Much better than the truck I just dumped...it got about 10 mpg.

Mine isn't that great either, but thank god I do mostly highway driving. I usually fill up my tank anywhere from 225 miles to 275, but I usually fill it up at a little under a 1/4 tank (I don't like it to run any lower). I have the V6 and I also have a Weapon-R intake. I've noticed that with the A/C on, the milage has slightly decreased since adding the intake. Is your car still under warranty (did you buy the extended one?), if so, bring it to the dealer, maybe something's not flowing right in there.....

I'm getting about 26 miles per gallon. Best is only around 29 or so. That's about 440 for the longest tank and I usually have to fill up around 400 miles or so. I've never seen my the pump fill me up to any more than 15.5 gallons. So I guess I've got an extra 2 gallons to go before my car just dies of fuel starvation.

Do you have the stock michelins tires on? The MXV4's are know for improving a car's gas mileage (which is why so many car manufacturers use them). If you switched out your tires, that could be a small factor.

I guess this one reason why I'm glad I have a 2.2.(well, other than the fact that I need to drive a stick) I can get a little over 360 miles out of a full tank, thats from full to just about empty. It increased when I went from 32psi to 35psi in the tires.

I feel you, i got 225 the first time i checked. I just filled up an hour ago, for 1.34 a gallon (PLUS), cheapest station in philly (WAWA), regular is only 1.27.

Most are like 1.50-1.55

I am averaging about 20mpg driving both local and highway. The needle points to only a quarter of the tank left, but When I fill up I only need to fill 9-10 gal (about 200 miles). This tells me that the needle does not show in proper scale of how much you have left. I usually don't like to wait until the last minute to fill up, but I may just do that to see what's the real range of the CL 3.0

Ruskibusiness, you must be figuring your milage wrong, divide your miles traveled by gallons used, not the size of your tank. I get 20mpg when I drive like a bad ass and about 32 when I am real nice.

I have one big problem in all of this.

MY FUEL GAUGE NEEDLE IS BROKEN. Due to a little accident, when i was installing indiglo gauges. Its better then the speedometer.

But, my light still goes on. I got the 225 with me putting like 14-15 gallons in it.

That is still like 15-16mpg. It still sucks, why

My friends husband told me it might be the O2 Sensor. It detects how much gas is goin in and out, in regulates all that. He said there might be a problem with that.

Or maybe i should get a new air filter.

What else might help.

Sorry for the long long post

Is there a Check Engine Light? If so, run the code.

Could be caused by several things... O2 sensor, Fuel filter, clogged EGR, clogged injectors.

Also, what fuel are you filling with?

2001 CL Type S

I have been getting around 20 to 22 mpg, a mix of driving through the hills, down a freeway and city driving with about 37 miles each way. Depending on how much I put my foot into the pedal, the smoother I am the better.

could be a combination of things.... Do you step on it? what is your crusing speed? Dirty fuel injectors? try using some injector cleaner, Low air pressure in your tires?

Expensive, no grip, and dangerous in the snow.. that's MXV4

My dad had those on his Corolla and I can't believe how bad they were.

Most any tire though if you overinflate them a bit it'll improve your gas mileage slightly because of the lower rolling resistance
