Gas Light ?

Once your gas light comes on, how many miles do u think till its gonna run out?? I'm starting to wonder why it comes on so early. Edmunds lists the 2.3 to have a 17.2 gallon tank. I think the most I have ever put in is 14.5 gal. And that was when i thought i wasnt gonna make it to the gas station. So im just curious as to know how far u can go before you need to really get gas.

You have a 3 gallon reserve tank, watch your gauge sometime when you're really low, it'll dip all the way down to E, then jump up about a quarter tank, it'll go through that b4 the gas light comes on i believe.

wow...i never knew that. Yea i remember hearing that our tanks were around 17 gal but i always remember filling it up to only 14ish gal...

As far as the gas light goes....call me crazy or wierd but I have this thing where i freak out when i get around 1/8 left. I've NEVER let my gas light come on...i guess i just freak out. I mean, the car sometimes has a hard time starting with only 1/8 tank left anyway...usaully when im 1/4 - 1/8 left, i fill up....no gas light for me!

Yes we have 3 gallon reserve tank. Watch it though when getting that low. When it is that low, you suck the sediment out of the bottom of the tank which can result in clogging of your injectors, I just cleaned out the fuel tank and got a lot of this out.

same problem here.. almost ran out of gas once. parked the car went to the bank came out and she wouldnt start. gas needle was down near the window on the little gas tank picture.. wayyy down there. but i was honestly just tryin to see when the light comes on. oh yea i filled it up after she started bout 10 min of tryin. and it took just over 16 gallons... holly shit was i pissed. now i dont let it get below the 1/4 tank mark.. im going to try to replace the bulb first then if nothing, on to the sending unit.

I've had my car for over 2 years, and the gas light has never been on. I have never let it get to the E, never.

I let my gas light on all the time... There are like 1001 gas station where I live (NYC). So I'm not worried about getting stuck.

that same thing happened to me when i parked facing downhill. you should try parking on the other side of the road, so that your car points up the hill. the fuel pump is on the rear of the car and works much better when the car is pointed up hill.
