fuel problems

I have about 104,000 miles on my 97 3.0 CL and I haven't gotten a tune-up yet. Recently my fuel economy has gotten worst (this combined with gas prices is making me very poor). I know I need a tune-up but I don't have the money to do an all-out tune-up right now. My dad told me that I should change the Distributor, the spark-plug wires, and the the spark-plugs. That sounded like it might be overkill. I was thinking of just changing the spark plugs. Do you guys think that might help?
