Front Pads Wont Wear Out!!

Front Pads Wont Wear Out!!
The front brake pads on my '97 2.2CL are originals with 61k miles on them...they are well within service limits, and look like they have another 20K miles left on them. Never have I had brake pads last so long!!...they usually need to be replaced at 30K. Has anyone had this experience? Did Acura put their "secret pads" on my car?
Also, if I replace the pads, do I really need to grind the rotors? There is absolutely no pulsation, or pulling. These brakes are incredible. Any thoughts on the subject?

I had my brakes until 110k miles. The dealership that we take it to every 3k, miles for an oil change, kept checking them and said they were fine until they started to squeak. Then they had to grind the rotors down and replaced the pads. Granted this car has almost all highway miles on it but still. Right now its at 159k and no major problems. The tires also lasted well over 100k miles.

I just had my brakes done on Sunday (2/18). I was prepared to do all 4, including cutting the rotors. All I needed were pads for the front (I could tell they were getting low). He said the rotors were in excellent condition and didn't need to be cut!! So, all I got done were the front pads!! Fine with me, it' cheaper that way!! BTW, I have about 54k miles....

the brake system on this car seems to somewhat famous for this as here at the dealer where I work it is indeed an unusual day when a four cylinder equipped CL requires brake work especially in the front. It may due in part to how you drive and where you drive and also to the fact the actual components used on the four cylinder are amost the same size as the stuff used on the six.the six being a much heavier car then the four wears it's brakes at a bit faster rate. You did not mention if your car is a manual trans vehicle this will also help reduce brake wear.Jens

I always suspected the pads, and rotors on the 2.2 were the same as the 3.0. This surely will increase longevity of the brakes. And, as you surmised, I also have a stick on this car.
Thanks for the comments.

If anything I my pads lasted pretty long. However I'm not on the brakes too much. I can't stand drivers that are constantly on the break.
I wish we had better breaks on the CL though, I reall think they suck, maybe i'll get different pads next time, made of some other material. I'll worry about that when I come to that crossroad.
