front grills..

i know you all are going to hate me for asking this, but i couldn't find anything about this in the FAQs. i have a 98 CL and it has the grill with those vertical lines in it... and i was wondering if the grill for the newer CLs fits on my car? like, say, 2001 or newer.

if it works, where would be a good place to get one and approx. how much would it cost?

because i really think mine is ugly, and the newer ones look nicer.

thanks

the 97 grille's look very similar to what your talking about. Its weird how Acura used the "wing" desing in 97, but went back to it on its 99 models. Maybe someone will post a pic of one for you, on my homepage you can see some pics of my type r style grille.

what do youmean "went back to it on it's 99 models". I have a 99 3.0 and it doesn't have the wing-like grill. It has the gril just like the one he's talking about.

Who was it that used gutter lining on teh front grill part and it was just silver around the hole? I want to do the same thing but put a black screen behind it since there is so much damn debris here in colorado.

Sorry, i didn't clarify that. The 99 TL's went with the "wing" design, along with all the other model Acura's 00+. The CL was the last Acura to use the vertical lines.

rmstoico had the chrome ring with the silver mesh on the inside, if that's what your talking about. I have his car now, bought it last week, the grille isn't on it, don't know if he still has it or not. I guess I'll find out when I start getting the parts from the shop and from his house and start getting the car back together

no kit, maybe one in the future once I get some other stuff finished like new rear tires, a new cat. and sensor since the one on there is hollowed out and the sensor burnt out, and a few other small things. I guess I'll see how money goes, I still have my original project sitting in the shop parking lot. But if I do anything crazy I'll let you's know.

simple answer, the 01-03 grill will not fit the 97-99. 97 comes w/ the "wing" design and 98-99 come w/ the one you have now.

no one answered my question...

and ding069, i don't mean the kind you have on your car (acc. to your pics). i mean the stock one that looks something like this: http://www.milemate.com/pictures/acura%20cl%202002.jpg

as opposed to this: http://speedycars.chinacars.com/wall...L%20-%2002.jpg

but i have a feeling it might not fit b/c the newer one has that point at the bottom... is there an alternative?

answers????

If you find a grille from a 97 CL, it is what your looking for. It looks very similar to what you posted a pic of. If someone has a pic of a 97, post it for her, i have none on hand.

what they said. 97 has the look of the orange famous one. 98-99 are the same the verticle lines.

I am not sure but maybe you can get the 2ng gen CL grill and dremel out the middle part and stick it on the 97 outer ring since the 97 is a 3 piece grill.

that was what I was thinking but im not sure if it would work or if it is even worth the money.

OOOOORRRR.... you could just go to http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.org/...prddisplay.jsp
and set the car info as a 97, then go to the front grille parts thing and order the parts you would need. I think just the base, and the wing thing since you already have the silver lining, would total about $40 shipped which isn't too bad.
