Foggy Headlights Looking Old?

I just followed some guys steps to renew my old looking headlights. IT WORKS!

I took 600 grit sand paper first, then 1000, then 1500 (ALL WET). Then buffed 3M rubbing compound with a buffer from wal-mart (15.00) , and using the wool bonnet.

PERFECTION, The Damn Things Look Brand Spanking New, WOW.

Guess I won't have to buy new ones, when I get my HID kit (6000K) I will be blinding folks. TRY IT<

im doin the same thing....except 1000 then 1500 rubbing compound then polish...

started working on one side to see if there is a difference..there is.

it looks more clear, smoother, almost new....but i still have more work to do

important: remember to wet sand....use a spray bottle with a cap or more of car wash soap so the sand paper wont get clogged = better results

I wouldnt bother taking the time to open the lights up. Do the outsides first and then be amazed. There is no use doing the inside, all the buildup is from bugs, road chemicals and weather, Nothing on the inside!

The reason I asked is because a while ago when I did my black housings I
inadvertingly dropped some apoxy glue on the inside of the lens and messed
up the inside of the lens. My lens got a bit yellow from the inside because of
this. That's the reason for my concern. However, when I do this to my
headlights I plan on doing it to both sides to one of the headlights ( messed up
headlight ).

Talking No sanding here...

I recently removed the haze from my headlamps as well. Here are pics of the before and after. Driver side is cleaned, passenger side is not... You can really see a difference. I am scared of sandpaper... wet chemistry is better. IMO

so... here you go...

Just another way to do it... Plus, if you get some on your paint, it won't hurt it.

I'll post a finnished pic someday, I would today, but a bird took a big turd on her, and she's a little shy. I need to wash her. Oh well, you get the gist.

Good luck. Oh, took about an hour and a half per lense, and I put a good coat of Turtle Wax on after the polish.

I almost did that. There is a guy who does renewals... $60 for both lenses, but I though I would try the $20 solution first.

Actually, I went back and looked at the pic I uploaded, That was after I had done only the cleaner, the polish made them even brighter, as for how they got so fucked up... I guess it is the sun. I noticed they were a little bit yellowed when I bought the car, but I figured I could get them refinnished. The final product looks much better than the pics. I just wanted to show the difference. That was two applications of cleaner, no polish.
