Fog Lights
Fog Lights
Is it possible to get fog lights put on the 1st gen 3.0 cl? If so where could i get them or for how much. I was also thinking of getting those HID lights is it worth it and are they easy to install?
thanks
thanks
Yeah, piece of cake. Any auto place who does electrical installs (stereos, fogs, etc) should be able to do it. I got my PIAAs about 2 years ago... it took about a half hour to install them, and they're still working great. Check out the link in my sig for pics....
you can get fogs anywhere.. like junior said any autopart store should sell them and install them... or go to a stereo & alarm place...
I dont think HIDs are worth it! for the TL I know they are $80 a pair.. get hyper whites, just as pretty, half the money!!!

I'm sure you could still get your Acura dealer to install the factory foglights, too. Some people on the board don't like the style, but the car is prewired for them and the button integrates very nicely into your center console.
Correction Iceman,
The fog lights are not prewired, sort of. The factory fog light kit comes with the in-dash button and wiring harness. The wiring that is in the dash and that goes through the firewall is already there, but you need to install the wiring harness, which comes in 3 pieces: wiring harness from firewall to battery and relay/ fuse connection, wiring from battery to 1st fog light, and then the wiring to the second foglight. This is for the factory foglights only.
I personally wanted the factory wiring and in-dash switch/ button, so I paid for the whole kit in addition to the aftermarket foglights that I have. The dealer did not want to sell me just the button or the wiring harness seperately.

I actually got screwed when I got them. I check 2 dealers and the junkyards for the button. All I wanted was the freaking button. I ended up paying $230 or so for the kit. Sometimes it doesn't pay to be picky.

The best foglamps for your money are made by Hella. All their lamps are E-code certified and cost less than $150 (except HID systems).

cool thanks for all the responses. now if i got get some PIAA and have them installed somewhere will they install some sort of switch or do they just turn on when i turn my lights on?
No, the Acura foglights have a standard white light. And I used to think they were big until somebody pointed out some Subaru and Volvo foglights!

KingsFanPaul: If you want yellow light, simply swap out the bulb. Most auxiliary lamps (be it factory or aftermarket) use the H3 bulb. If you buy this bulb with a yellow tint (such as the Philips WeatherVisions), you will then have foglamps that project yellow light.
