Fog or driving lights? for rain etc

So I got my fogs in the mail and I'm not sure i i want to install them just yet. my question is this... Would there be a problem hooking up some driving lights as fog lights? Stay on all the time. I'm going to put PIAA Ion Crystal yellow bulbs in them to match all the other front end lights. i want to see better in rain etc cause our headlights are so dim, and i like the look of some oval driving lights. I think they would give good performance all over, in rain and out. If i aim the lenses a little lower I shouldn't have a problem blinding other drivers right? Even on clear nights my low beams just seem soo low. my high beams on the other hand seem very bright.
On a recent trip it was very stressful driving at night in heavy rain.

So fogs or driving lights on all the time...?

i use my piaa 1700x fogs all the time as driving lights. i have no probs with anyone. i am looking into a set for yellow ion ogs for the rain to hide behind my grill. my plasma fogs and superwhites aren't good for rainy weather.

And if you want yellow, Hella Yellowstars (available from Rallylights) are the way to go. They're yellower, last longer, brighter and are cheaper than the Ion Crystals. I have a set of Ion Crystals in my WRX & while they're very pretty, they're also much dimmer than the stock bulbs.

So you say the yellow stars are "yellower". how much so?
I have Ion crystal bulbs in the front end and would prefer them to match. How close are they to the ions?

You say the ions are dimmer than the stock bulbs? Is that because the stock ones are super white or something similar? The real test is wheather the ions cut through fog better than the stock ones did.

Let me know thanks. The yellowstars are pretty cheap so I may just put them in and same some $$.

I was thinking of getting the driving lights because they reach further ahead and I'd keep them on all the time, just like fogs. I figured this would give me better visibility than just the fogs.

Well, I didn't have anything to measure yellowness at the time, but they seemed a tad more yellow. :p

The stock bulbs were just plain old H3 bulbs. I've disabled my headlights and just run the fogs (with Ion Crystals) in heavy fog and it almost seemed like I was wearing sunglasses. I only use them for show and DRLs.

Anybody ever try the PIAA Ion Yellows? They're supposed to be yellower than the Crystals.
