first timer

hi,
I just found this forum and had a really basic question. I own a 1997 2.2CL and was wondering what I could do for short money to increase the performance of my car. I'm not looking to trick it out with Nirtous or anything like that. Just want to add some HP and/or increase handling. anyone have any good suggestions for mods that can be done to my car. keep in mind that i don't know how to install this stuff myself so install cost would be a factor.
thank you very much

This should help. Feel free to post any other questions you have. Make sure you read this carefully. Most of your questions will be answered here. Some people get on the newbies because they don't like asking the same question over and over. You understand don't you...?

Hey man, and welcome! Sorry to say there isnt much to really increase the hp of the 2.2 engine unless you install a custom turbo or spray. Though they do make headers and some really nice exhaust systems for our car. When ever you look for something for the acura cl 2.2 engine you will not usually find anything; so look for the 94-97 accord for engine/exhaust mods. I wouldnt know much about the costs of installing these items because a lot was done before i owned my car. If you would like perfomance i would first start with an injen or aem cia (cold air intake) then get and cat back exhaust...i couldnt tell you what the best one is because mine is custom. Then get headers from there. Wheels, tires, and dropping your car will dramatically give your car better grip to the earth; better handling as well. If you have any questions about anything dont be afraid to ask. Well, goodluck on your endeavors and keep in touch.

You can always advance your timing...its free...usually 2-4 degrees. If you run premium...you will feel a bigger difference from the timing advance. Careful...make sure you dont get any knock.
