First Time at the Track with the CL!

So today got up at the ass crack of dawn and went down with about 8 other cars to the Lebanon Valley Dragway. First time ever drag racing the cl and omg, I'm addicted! It was unbelievable, but what is mroe unbelievable is the time I got out of this piece of junk lol. Here's my best slip (with all my performance mods)-

Mods-
8lb fidanza flywheel
Ebay SRI
OBX 4-2-1 Header

Reaction - 0.472
60 foot - 2.502
330 foot - 6.896
1/8 MPH - 67.11
1/8 Mile - 10.537
1000 Foot - 13.686
1/4 MPH - 85.30

And the big number-
1/4 Mile - 16.332

The 2.2cl stock with a professional driver is 16.7, and my buddy mark drove it twice and he's one of the best drivers I know, he got a 16.6 as his best time in this car, so how I ran a 16.33 with just those small 3 mods on my 4th run ever is beyond me! But I was so flippin happy, can't wait til the end of the summer when i can see 13's with the turbo! Anyways, thought I would share that cause I was soo excited. Some of my buddies numbers-

Dodge Colt w/ 4g63 motor, 60-1 turbo 30psi - 12.4 (that was doo doo for him on street tires)
89 Honda CRX w/ B18 DOHC swap w/ turbo and spray - 12.6
2005 RSX type-s - 14.6
2006 stock SRT-4 minor suspension mods - 13.1
1992 Volve 740T w/ 57 trim ebay turbo at 20psi - 14.6 (this was absolute crap for him)
2005 Mitsu Evo (not sure of mods) - 13.1
Can't think of anymore at the moment but all in all it was a decent day for most but awesome for the little cl'er lol

I'm tellin you, I couldn't believe it when I got the time slip, I wanted to cry tears of ever-loving joy lol and whats even worse is the fact that 16.3 is good for our cars and its slow as hell! But hey, from my first ever day at the track, I think I did alright lol

LoL....that's better than me.

I ran:

R/T - .828
60' - 2.435
330' - 7.216
1/8 - 11.247
1000' - 14.2
1/4 - 16.675
MPH - 94.21

I quit 3/4 way through 2nd gear and put it in 4th gear right after that since I was pissed about all the wheel hop I got in 1st and 2nd. When I put her in 4th, half way through that I decided to put her in 3rd and slammed it. This was without nitrous as well. I have no doubt in my mind I can hit 13's NA and 12's on the bottle with traction.

ps- street tires like to be warm, not hot since the compound is way different from slicks, so you probably made your time worse by burning them out lol

Everytime my friends would bring up I ran a 16sec pass with all the money I've thrown in the car. I would reply, your Evo got beat by a 16 sec car, must suck for you. LoL.

Yea dude, I was at about 70-80% throttle and still getting crazy wheel hop. And since my hood touches my manifold, I could hear it bang it hard, and I was afraid of cracking it. It was ridiculous. I even shifted into 2nd early thinking that at a lower rpm without going full throttle would stop it. It didnt. I even tried letting go of the gas completely and easing my way back on it, and it just hopped like crazy. I tired SOOO MANY things in that one run. I couldnt believe I still managed to come in at 94mph, lmao.

My 2nd run resulted in that snapped axle and torn half shaft half way through 1st gear.

Cocoa I believe you brother, your still the fastest 1stgen Ive seen. If you had to guess with good traction, what 1/4 mile time you think you would run? Hopefully by the end of this year I'll catch up.

12's with spray. I am 100% confident the car can do it. Only thing is, if I really wanted to do it, I have to stiffen up the front (bigger sway bar in the front would be a start), but since I'm building a track car for road racing, that would result in understeer for me, which I want to stay away from. I will try again later though to prove to myself it can be attained. Hopefully by summer.

Edit: I meant to say "tried", not tired in the post above this one.

If you look at my speed trap, that alone would result in a high 13 low 14 second pass. That's what amazed me the most. Because with all the mistakes and stuff that I did in that pass, I still managed to trap in high speeds. That is why I am confident I can hit 13's NA and 12's on the bottle with traction. We will have to wait and see what it really does though at a later time... The more time passes, the lighter it will get...man, I havent even tuned this engine yet...

I'm hoping with the turbo and suspension mods that I can run 13's, I don't think I'll have a problemw/ 300whp, traction bar, suspension, and slicks

i wanna get one too, eventually when i go H22, the wheel hop problem will still be there. last time i did a burn out my radar detector came off my window, and my old headunit (which wasnt in there too high, hence the reason it got stolen so quickly) popped out.

Hey Cocoa & Black, does the damper bolt right on to our 3.0 engines or a custom bracket is needed? I did a bit of searching in the 2nd gen and found that AT CLs don't have the damper mounting points like the MTs, modifications are needed, etc...

Also, why do you need a pair? The NRG Kit comes with only 1 damper, so i'd have to buy 2 kits?

I think we should make a diff thread and discuss this... but this thread is hijacked looong ago so...

It's gotta be custom, but everything else on my car is, so why stop now And you only need one, the 2nd gen guys suggest 2 for them, which is why I got 2, but you only need one
