FINALLY got my cl back

Got my car back late last night, and the head seems fixed, but it has some other things happening. At wide open throttle from a standstill, or even rolling start, when it hits 5k rpm it will shoot up to redline and back to 5k. It seems to do this as long as I stay on the gas, I havnt let it go long while doing it because I am afraid of breaking something. Also, while it does this, the cel will flash with it. There is also a weird whining noise coming from the accesory side of the engine that was not there before. The cel has been on, Acura will be replacing some stuff very soon on that note. The car did not do this before the head and timing belt where done. Then this morning, I start the car and go to pull out, when I hit the gas the car jerks a few times, the cel flashes then after a couple of minutes of this it stops. WTF!! Any suggestions from you all? This thing is driving me crazy. I dont know if this is something they screwed up when they were doing the head and timing belt or what. Please help.

What codes are you getting? And if you had the work done at acura for the timing belt i would immediately go back and complain. They should investigate the problem for free and fix it if they caused it during the job.

Acura didnt do the timing belt or head gasket. They are OEM parts though. The lot where I bought it did the labor. The codes were the o2 sensor and the egr valve flow. Acura hasnt done those yet though. The codes were there before the blown head gasket, and the car didnt do this before the repair. My initial thought was over tightening of the timing belt. Would that cause that 5k to redline bounce? Any suggestions would be great, They have the car back right now, guy said he was thinking something about a sensor. God keep me from killing these idiots!

Okay, got the car back again. I test drove it and it was fixed, pulled smooth and hard all the way to redline. So I was happy and took the car home, washed her up, and took my girl out. It was all good until I get on it pulling into traffic and wham...It starts doing that shit again at 5k. I was so pissed I think my blood pressure shot through my ass. I havnt tried it again since. The mechanic claimed it was something to do with the o2 sensor. Never heard that one before. The plan is to let the Acura people do the warranty stuff with the o2 sensors and egr valve, then if that dosnt help, find somebody who knows what the hell they are doing and just pay for it to be right.

you guys gotta stop beatong your cars after engine work. especially head work or you will suffer consequences. break her in damn it. go for a long drive. you cant expect new things to interact in perfect harmonic balance right from the start.

Sweet jesus thank you. Why are you taking it to 5-6k at random anyway? Let it break in a bit, then try it out. No car's gonna last long if you straight beat on it...take it easy a bit.

I completely agree with this. Break it in correctly or you'll pay for your lack of patience. I know i did.

Its not like I drive that way all the time. But I have had so many problems with these people that I was checking EVERYTHING out. And its not like I Had new valves or anything, it was a head gasket. The guy drove it 200 miles before I got it back. As far as I am concerned there is nothing to break in. If it wasnt sealed after 200 miles then it wont be.

Actually you should wait about 500 miles after any major engine work, such as a headgasket. 200 miles isn't nearly enough. you must realized you got ur block milled and headgasket changed AND a timing belt, thats major work to an engine. I'm speaking from experience.

whoa, block milled? That wasnt done. The head was milled but not the block. So in your opinion this might stop after break in? I really dont drive that way all the time, but these people have been a nightmare to deal with and I wanted to check everything.

If you have bottom end work you need to drive it and drive it. The seals needs pressure. When you do head work you need to start your car. Have it warm up nice then turn it off and let it cool. Repeat the process numerous times. Head you have to be gentle compared to the block. How did the guy drive it 200 miles. Do you trust him?

he drove it back and forth to work for a week, and around town for various things. The mileage adds up at least, But I dont trust the guy as far as I could throw him. He is the lead mechanic at the lot where I bought the car.(had it for a week and the head gasket blew.) Made them fix it because the sales mgr made the mistake of telling me(a car saleman) that if I had any probs they would take care of it. They had the car for over a month.

head or block milled, either way you need to be gentle on her for a good 500 miles. If you dont trust the mechanics, save yourself the worry and take it elsewhere.
