Fender Rub

I have read previous posts addressing this but i dont really understand what is the clear solution. Every once in a while either when i drive fats and slow down or just random my car will make a sort of rubbing noise coming primarily from the passenger side front. I read osmehitng about cutting the fender or somehting, can someone please explain this to me? Thank you.

mine as well passenger side front... it is rubbing on those fender liner plastic holder tabs... im not sure how to "SHAVE" (as in dremel it/sand it down) because that would mean my fender liner would just fall off....

The rubbing is already shaving the plastic tab holders for the fender liner a lot. Then again my wheel is ticked almost half an inch.... perhaps there is nothing I can do... except run without fenderliner.

the fender liner is connected at various spots. What you need to do is jack the car up and find the points where it's rubbing and cut those spots out. An exactoknife will cut it for you. I've run into a new problem now with my new tires, while they are still 225/40's they are slightly wider and taller and now i'm rubbing up on metal above the liner. I'm gonna take a dremel to it soon and cut it out though.

But as far as the liner goes, just cut out the spots it's rubbing on. On my driver side i've cut out the whole top and all I have covered is the sides covering the intake and the entry to the door.

you can even just take the liners out completely, I did this for a little over a year with no problems, however it gets the engine bay real dirty.

You will clearly see where it is rubbing.

my rubbing is not at the top of the fender but on the sides... my tire tucks but barely... so that the edge of the tired rubs on the outer fender clips. so there really is nothing to cut out or cut down without cutting into metal fender... the plastic is about 2 mm thick but I doubt removing that will decrease the rubbage...

whats up with the front passenger side rubbing and the rear drivers side having squeeky brakes first?

cut that plastic tabs on the inner side of the fender off and shave off the pieces of the liner that sit flush w/ the fender, there is a good amoutn of space between the liner and the fender actually there. If that doesn't work then roll that front fender in a little more. Your front isn't quite as low as mine if I remember and I don't rub on that spot anymore after just removing the liner. I didn't have to roll it.

also, set the front up as stiff as possible

yeah it is on 14 out of 16... I gotta go to 16 I guess... its lower than in the pic in the www now... looks just as low as yours in your pics that you like to post a lot... (here is another photo posting op)

im not understanding how I can cut teh plastic tabs on the inner side of the outer fender wall off and then shave off the part of the fender liner and still expect the fender to be held in place? I would think it would kinda vibrate and move around a bit since all that air is getting in there since it is not covered anymore.

its about .5-.75 inches lower than that now.

so you are like this?

I didn't have any problems w/ my paradas at that low, but now have issues w/ my proxes 4's

yeah that looks about right I can't really tell the black gives to much shadow in the pic... the new color looks way better than the black paint did.

my rear is lower than yours was.

CLpower, can you post pics of your fender cut? I am just curious. Can you actually look at the tire from inside the engine bay??

no, I just cut the plastic liner, not the metal part You can see the very tip of the tire looking through the door when it's open though

Hey do you guys think that i will have any rubbing problems with the H&R sport springs. The drop is just over 2" in the front and like 1.75 in the rear. I am gonna be running 225 35 19's on a 7.5" rim. I hope not because thats what i have being installed this week at the body shop

should be about the same diameter as a 225 40 on 18's... depending on the offset you should be fine... I don't rub THAT much ... with +3 drop.

I run the AGX's on 3/6 settings. When i tried 4/8 it kicked my ass with a 40 treadwall, i don't want to try it on the 35's, i am afraid i might die
