Feeling my Vtec???

I'm new to the forum and love the site. I've had my 99 2.3 since it was new and have taken good care of it. The engine is stock except for a K&N drop-in.

I've read a number of posts where people describe feeling the Vtec 'kick in.' I'm not sure I've actually felt the Vtec kick in. The motor pulls real strong to the red line (in fact, it pulls stronger at high-revs than any other car I've ever had), but these posts make me wonder ... am I missing something, or am I worrying about nuthin?

you are worrying abotu nothing. It's hard to feel it w/o some power in the motor. Try a CAI or short ram sometime and you'll feel and hear the crossover. But you've got nothin to worry about It's there.

you really dont have enough mods to make it that noticeable. but if you have and auto or a 5 spd I find the easiest way to detect vtec is to drive normally into 3rd gear and accel till ur rpms are bout 4000 then accel slowly and steady and when you hit about 4800 you should feel a slight bump in power and hear your exhaust tone change. at 4800 rpms even a stock exhuast you should still hear it. other than that get rif of ur k & N and get a cai and a full cat back exhaust. that will give you a nice little bump in high end power and vtec is easily heard and felt. still it is no DOHC vtec by any means.
