fastvtecCL: You're PM Box is Full!
Kieth,
The only difference is in the ecu. The '97 has both an ECM and a TCM. The ECM = engine control mudule and the TCM = Transmission Control Module. They are in 2 different boxes.
The '98/'99 has just the ECM, which controls the engine and tranny and is in one box.
So, make sure you get the EMC and TCM with the engine/tranny, and you'll be fine.
Good luck!

i found a 99 3.0CL motor and trans for $1800 with 42k miles on both.. the reason i asked was i found a 97 3.0CL motor and tran for $1200 but it had 80k miles on it..
thanks again
i think i'm going to have to put the vortech project on hold for alittle while and get this motor.. i have 107k miles on my motor now and my (6th) trans is about to go anyday now.. that way i can build one of my motors and do the vortech setup with spray
:P
:P
Keith,
Sorry for spelling your name wrong in the 1st post.
Also, the '98/'99 ecu is called the PCM = Powertrain Control Module; not ECM!

Good luck on the new engine.
