factory alarms?...

im not sure if my car has one, i have keyless entry, 98 3.0 premium, and theres a blinking red light on the door lock that says security, plus if i hit the panic button on the fob it goes off... i want to get a new stereo but not without an alarm..

still works. light flashes and alarm beeps when you arm it. has nothing to do with the radio. the radio does have its own theft deterrent but thats just the code found under the ashtray.

but the alarm will only go off if someone tries to open up your door from the inside while the system's armed. if its an expensive stereo you are probably better off wiring in a shock sensor to trip the alarm if anyone smashes the window.

I don't think our alarms are set up like that. I could be wrong though.

Haha, I have concluded that our lock and unlock sound is half chihuahua, half police siren. and when the panic button is pressed..all I wanna do is cry. that shits ridiculous. and then its like a light show that goes off.

^I personaly love the lock and unlock chirp. It really helps when I just want to walk away and not have to stand by and hear for a quiet click. What pisses me off is when cars HONK when their locked... Holy. Crap...

i think that when the panic goes off, it sounds like the sound effect from when they shoot guns in star wars. today, go press it and think about a star wars gun haha and tell me what you think

Glass breaking requires a sound sensor, or a shock sensor, our car doesn't have either

^^ that's normal operation. It makes sure that bumping the keychain won't pop the trunk.

To enable the chirp, hold Trunk and Lock at the same time for 4 seconds.

My doesn't chirp either. I'll have to try that. It definitely beats having to look for the brake lights and corners lights flashing in the middle of the day. It's almost impossible so I usually hit the button like 5 times to make sure.

^ when my original remote key fob died, the spare remote key fob chirp function was never enabled and didn't know how to enable it and went without it for a week. It drove me so crazy I had to flip through the owners manual to enable it again.

^^PFFFFTT! What was funny is that we didn't think we were doing anything wrong till we hijacked the third thread and Nate mentioned something about Chris. I was like..
crap...

The only other thread I've hijacked and whored since then was the 6th page of the "Current Projects" thread cause no one had anything else (or just didn't want to share) to work on.

Great, now we're hijacking the alarm thread..

And i don't think i was being sick, all i was saying was there no need for you to chime in with what the Moderator had told me or comment on me at all.

^why didn't you just say that? he probably wouldn't have gotten mad then. And he can comment on whatever he wants, this is a forum.

but in either respect this has nothing to do with the topic at all, so lets resume the regular conversation about alarms

and as far as the question you were asking i would suggest searching as i thought i saw a topic like you suggested about hooking up extra things to a stock alarm.
but your best bet would be to just find out on a different site, as they would probably have more info on a more general topic like that
