F23A1 CL or Accord

I got a 98 CL with a F23A1 (Nice) The tranny is acting dumb (Sucks) With 126K. It jerks when you come to a complete stop after 1-2 sec. but shifts perfectly when accerating. AMMCO said the 2nd grear is going.

Junk yard and Honda say only 98-99 CL will work. But... I got already got a 95 Accord F23 Tranny, looks similar but the silnoids and hoses are in diffrent places all the bolt up's "look" the same to me.

Anyone ever tryed it? .. .. Or know if it will work when swaped? Thanks, Mike

No idea... I just put an OBD1 trans in my OBD2 accord, 94 trans to a 96 accord and it all bolted up and works. The 95 will be OBD1, just check all the connections and make sure they are the same and go from there. If you are gonna do it, just make sure you buy a new torque converter O-Ring and a new seal... That's all I did. The rest of the stuff can generally be maintenanced from the outside unless you want to venture into the case to change the filter which I didn't bother to do. I do need to get new mainshaft/countershaft speed sensors though. Not sure if the mainshaft one is just broken or incompatible... just goign to replace it to keep it simple. I also got a remanufactured torque converter... rather not have to pull the tranny twice.

I noticed theres a sensor in a diffrent place on the 95Accord tranny, that my 98CL dont have but there is a hole for on the 98. I thougt it was a speed sensor but it already has one.

So did the OBD1 have the hoses and sensor clips in diffrent spots than the obd2 that may be the diffrences i noticed. (I Didn't think of the OBD Diffrence) They both have the same amount of plugs other than the one sensor (its on top of where the Axles go in at) That one my CL don't have. I wounder if is siposed to have it or they did away with on the OBD2.

Did your have that sensor on both trannys or where there diffrenaces? Did all your plugs "fit" or did you have to change anything? How much does a torque Conv run and did you buy one for the 95 or 96? Does your TCM light (D4) blink or check engine light?

Thanks Alot Mike

the only thing i had to 'change' was looping the power steering pressure lines that come from the speed sensor. Other than that, everything else was the same aside from the stamp on the trans. Take pictures of what you are unsure of and i am sure someone will be able to figure it out. The only plug above the axle on my trans was above the passenger axle and that is one of the shaft speed sensors.

the f23 wasnt around in 95. they only came in 98-02 accords, and some of the CL's, of course, haha. so odds are the tranny you have is from a f22. it should bolt up, but it is a little different im sure.

Yea it was a f22 It was already out of the car when i found it but i am still not sure if it will work, I can't find a used CL tranny with low miles and a rebuild will probly do the same thing later cause the f23 tranny is a lemon... but the f22's didn't have that problem? I never done any swaps from diff type engines/tranny mixes, you think it will work in the car or do i have to make a lot of custom changes? Know anyone that did anything simalar? Thanks for any input
