The F23 turbo is done...
Like the title says the F23 turbo is finished...I just put a deposit on an H22a + tranny with LSD. The F is still running strong but I came into some money and the swap will avoid a timing belt change, get my air conditioning back, etc. I was going to get the F built but they needed 2 weeks to do it and the shop tells me for the money I will make much more power on the H. Anyway I just wanted to share my good news. My FMAX manifold will be for sale in about 2 weeks if anyone is interested.

I dont feel like quoting all the questions/comments but in order:
Thanks.
Yea same turbo, would be nice to upgrade but I dont have that much money.
My mom got my sister a 2005 Tacoma and didnt pay a cent for my car, so we are making things a little more even.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Complete swap being purchased from JE Import Performance in Baltimore.

Not going to build this motor either. Unlike the F series motor, you cant put forged pistons in it without sleeves since the sleeves are made of something too soft, I think its called FRM. I will be putting a thick headgasket on (lowers compression) and using ARP head studs. I dont plan on boosting any higher on this motor but it will yield more power at the same boost level. Pics will be posted when complete. Im dropping my car off on the 8th and they said it will be done in 3-5 days.

Just to clarify...that is a myth!!
i had wiseco pistons in my h22 for over 20,000 miles on stock sleeves.
what year is the motor that you will be using
94-96 closed deck will work with forged pistons...
97+ open deck won't

wow, nice. I kinda saw this coming. Can't wait to see what it dyno's at after the swap.
I was kinda weirded out that 99CL had an almost identical dyno to yours with his 3.0CL NA, and you'rs turbo'd at like 8 psi.
Good luck.

let me re-phrase myself. what did you expect out of a stock f-series with low boost?
im not saying the f has "no" potential whatsoever, but seriously, i was asking the person whom i quoted above, what he had expected. you will not make a "tremendous" amount of power without building/tuning it.
i dont need to hear any comparison with blah blah crx and it's f22, because quite frankly, the crx and the CL are two completley different cars, and one key factor is that the CRX has an incredible weight:power advantage.

first of all, you need to understand both disagreeing and disrespect. i may come off as blunt, but i speak for things in general. i had never directed a personal insult towards anyone (depending on situation, but thats another story). also, when did i say that people shouldnt speak their minds? dont assume everything goes accordingly to what you see it as.
"and if you dont need to hear about what i post.. dont read it and really dont comment on my posts" - again with the assumptions. read my post again. thoroughly.
on a side note, you want to talk to me about shitty attitudes? i admit i do have a shitty attitude at time to time, but take a look around you. there is a handful of people here on this forum with shitty attitudes. if you seriously want to talk about shitty attitudes, create a xanga blog and invite everyone on this forum to talk about their attitudes.
i am going to delete this post because it doesnt pretain anything towards this thread. i have nothing else to say. so, take your time and read it. dont assume shit.

however, I was simply stating taht I was surprised at how similar teh dynographs were. I wasn't comparing peak numbers, but more comparing the curves which were very simiilar. It just surprised me that an NA V6 (which is apparently equally as shitty as the F2x) with bolt ons and cams with a sluchmatic was making about the same curve as a I4 with 8psi boost through a manual tranny.
I may not have extensive knowledge on honda engines, or typical power with a turbo at X psi, but that's still no reason to be a dick.

Update - the H22 is in the car. For some reason the motor mounts were different and they had to use one off an H23, I thought everyone said it bolted right up. Tomorrow they are going to start putting/fabbing all the turbo stuff on and it will probably be tuned and ready to go.

uber-salt. not only did they not have it on the dyno at 4 as i was told on the phone, they hadnt made the downpipe or the dump tube. appearantly their phone person is overly optimisitc. to top that off the guy who does all the custom fab and tuning is off tomorrow so i wont get it back til monday at the earliest and i was planning to drive it to Va Beach tomorrow to my Dads house.
its taking so long because first they didnt know they had to drop the rear cross member to get the motor in, then they had to modify my intercooler piping and clock the turbo, then remake my downpipe and dump tube cause the manifold and motor are too different for my existing ones to fit. on the plus side, i will have AC again and i got the F23 home.
