Fuck Cops! and tickets!

Just got another fix it ticket for my tint, plus he gave me another ticket for my exhaust and he didn't check the box that says fixable. I asked him why and he said it's not a fix it ticket. I told him that i could fix it just as easy as the tint and he laughed. What a bitch, i wanted to fucking slap him! If that exhaust ticket counts as a real ticket I am going to get my license suspended again, because it hasn't been six months since it was suspended last time for the 110+mph. Does anyone know what the exhaust ticket goes down as. I am going to strip my tint because my girlfriends cop friend has already signed off the tint twice. I was just planning on putting the silencer on for the exhaust and see if they let it go. Thanks for letting me vent!

oh, and the gayest part was that i had my windows down the whole time, but he saw the back windows when he walked up to my car and said "roll up your window for a second" then he says it's illegal even if their up.

okay first off, sucks about the window tint ticket, i gave up my tint after about a dozen of those.

Also, the exhaust one is not a moving violation so it won't go on your record. But you need to fight that shit. If his reason for giving you a ticket was because it's aftermarket the ticket won't hold in court. The only reason you should be getting an exhaust ticket is because it's to loud and by to loud I mean it has to be above like 95 db at 100 ft or so away. Which is completely impossible for the cop to tell with his own ears. He has to use a machine to test it. Go to www.streetracingonline.com. Register become a member, there is a forum dedicated to laws like this. Do some searches and you will come up w/ the actual code that explains it all. I use to carry it in my car and when cops would try to give me a ticket for aftermarket exhaust i'd bust it out on them and make them look really dumb because they didn't know the actual law. This is a law that departments thrive on because most people don't know what the real law is.

Also, nothing wrong w/ having your GF's cop friend sign it off again. I use to get all my shit signed off by a cop buddy until he moved out of state.

check this out:

27150.2. (b) A certificate of compliance for a vehicular exhaust system shall be issued pursuant to subdivision (a) if the vehicle complies with Sections 27150 and 27151. Exhaust systems installed on motor vehicles, other than motorcycles, with a manufacturer's gross vehicle weight rating of less than 6,000 pounds comply with Sections 27150 and 27151 if they emit no more than 95 dbA when tested in accordance with Society of Automotive Engineers Standard J1169 May 1998.

SAE Standard J1169 on how to test your exhaust noise level:

Decibel meter is held 0.5 meters (20 inches) from the exhaust tip, and the test is done at 1/2 the engine's maximum rated RPM (redline).

Any exhaust modifications after the catalytic converter are legal as long as the exhaust noise is below 95dB. If you got a ticket for modified exhaust, have this test done by someone with a dB meter (try local car stereo shops), have the person doing the test write out the results of the test, along with the date, time, and location of the test, then sign the paper. Bring this when you appear in court. The charge will likely be dropped.

hope this helps you. Print it out, take it to court with you.

Just got an altered exhaust ticket...50 dollar court fee, even if the charges get thrown out or 70 bucks to not show up and deal w/ it. Either way, I lose.

actually the law out here use to be you couldn't modify your exhaust unless it was damaged for emissions purposes. Motorcycles are exempt in a way because the noise of their bikes is more a safety factor I think they are allowed up to 112 db. Also hot rods are exempt if they are old enough to meet the exemption list. But it's not just honda's and shit getting tickets, i've seen some of my buddies v8's get them too.

no, it's like your window tint ticket. Only moving violations go on your record

well thats a relief!

Ghander when did they change from the old law, (about any modified exhaust.) ? Because thats what this idiot said. "you've modified your exhaust, thats illegal" And i started to tell him that there are alot of exhaust systems that are actually street legal, and he said I was wrong. But i know greddy and some others make legal exhausts. He really must have thought that any modified exhaust is still illegal

The court date isn't until the end of July. I'm almost certain it is just a fine, and not kept on record. I would care less if it weren't for the 50 dollar mandatory court fee, the altered exhaust fine is only like 20 odd bucks here, which makes it around 70 either way. I'd rather pay the extra 20 bucks then go through the trouble of going to court, probably getting a parking ticket at the government center/courthouse, and waking up early heh.

For the tint, I have 4% tint and I so dont like to get tickets. If i get pulled over in a situation where my windows are already down I just leave them down. If the cop asks you to roll them up its not a law. You just say that your electronic switch is broken and they cannot force you to roll it up. ie. been stopped 5 times never gotten a ticket yet for my tint. He may call you & me a liar, but Im a liar without a ticket.

That's funny, because i thought about saying that. Too bad i didn't think of it till about an hour after i got the ticket. Everytime i get a ticket i'm like all quiet and shit in front of the cop. Then after he writes my ass up i think off all this shit i could have said.

I'm sick off getting pulled over for the tint anyway, i could have my gf's cop buddy write it off again, but I'm just gona get it stripped and put that really clear bluish tint that the new mercedes benzes have. My dad's E500 has it and it looks nice.

of course you legally have to roll them up for him to check. But if the excuse the button doesn't work gets away w/ it, do it

yea, you gotta do something when you've been pulled over 30+ times

it's funny, when my girlfriend who I met on this board moved out here in the first 2 months we got pulled over about half a dozen times. She thought I was always exagerating before
