Watching Dateline on NBC with the wife...story tonight on a kid racing in his parents rented Intrepid in Tampa. Hit and killed a woman and her child, and got away with vehicular homicide. Her husband spent 3 years reopening the case, he got charged with two counts of vehicular homicide, and 30 years in jail would have been his penalty.....and then the husband met him, and then withdrew the charges, because he felt that the kid would feel sorry for the rest of his life. He then only got 8 years probation, and 300 hours of community service talking to kids about not racing.

...............Just a reminder to all of us, my self included...it does'nt matter what kind of car, or the situation......drive responsibly, because you will never know the outcome of your actions. This kid could have been in jail for 30 years because of the "rush" it gave him to go fast.

i watched that also, pretty fucked up what happened, but i think that the kid is doing more by talking to kids about the consequences of not racing versus sitting in jail

We had Some people racing a prelude and a camero here in tucson. Anyway they were going somthin over 80 and the prelude t boned a car that was trying to get across the street. It was a couple years ago but i think both the prelude driver and the other car driver died. And the guy in the gm was charged with homicide.

Anyway racing on the street you never know who or what is gonna be infront of you the next second. Stupid stuff.

well, obviously, they're dead. if you would have watched the show, you would know that the father/husband of the daugher and wife killed makes trips to schools with the driver that killed them, to educate teens on the dangers of speeding. so if i were a h/s kid, sitting in gym, and im watching the presentation, it would scare the shit outta me, i mean, you see the person that did it, his reactions, and the person that lost so much. that would definently make me think twice about speeding. i think that reaching out to the community and letting them know the consequences is a lot better than doing laundry and jail and not getting the word out. also, if you had watched the show, the husband forgave the driver.
