Ethanol?
Ethanol?
I pulled into a Sunoco gas station today and their 93 octane now contains 10% ethanol.
Found this news release:

Dont cars have to be "ethanol ready" to use that, even in a blend? anyone know if our engines can be ok with a 10% blend, better/worse gas milage? damage to engine over the long term?

as far as im concerned, 10% shouldnt do any damage to your engine. its too little to make a difference. You dont need to burn 93/4 octane anyway (ive youve got a first gen cl and you are using premium), your car runs better on 87.
it should be cheaper... damn oil companies

Shouldnt be pinging at all.. damn.. Husky/Mohawk in Canada sell ethanol blend midgrade for the price of regular. I've never ran it in the CL but i seemed to get slightly less MPG with it in my old car.

10% ethanol (E10) is fine for the car. You'll probably see a 1-2% drop in mileage with the change over to 10% ethanol. What you can't use is E85, which is 85% ethanol. To use E85, you need a flex fuel vechicle or perform a conversion.
The only cars that will have a problem with the change over to 10% ethanol are vehicles that have neglected fuel systems.

fuckers had a very low % of ethanol
just recently they have upped it to 10%
my h22 is pinping like a mofo
running e10 technically requires some adjustment to your air-fuel ratio, something the ecu doesnt have programmed into it as is and that would cause very slight (but perhaps noticable) problems.
on another note, ethanol being an alchohol means that it will start cleaning out accumulated crap and carbon and more crap. so if any of you plan on running it constantly prepare to change your fuel filter and maybe even find some new leaks...

NO WAY DUDE, the clerks don't do shit to the fuel. Funny note on that, I went to fill up the other night and I gave the lady my check card. So I go to the pump and pump away. She gets to around $10.75 and stops. I was just topping off. So I go back in and the lady says... "I meant to have you go to another pump because I had preset this one for $20 for another guy and he was on a different pump." So she fiddles with the register for a couple of minutes and then says, "well, I guess your gas is on me because I can't clear the pump refund from the preset, and the computer will not let me run your card unless the pump is clear." HAHA, I got the fuel for FREE. Now that was fortuitous.
As for E10 & E85... Conversion of the PCM and several fuel system components would make the CL a flexfuel car. She can burn E10, but don't run E85. And as for pinging, you need to have your timing checked. If it is retarded too far, you will have detonation and pinging. If the timing were advanced too far, you would get studdering and an uneven idle.
Good luck.
