Engine temp.

My temp guague only reads upto 1/4 of the range. I'm not sure if the engine is not getting to the optimum temp or if the guage is faulty. I am getting 24 mpg in mix driving. If the engine was not getiing warm enough, the mileage should be affected right?
Is the needle being anywhere between cold and hot supposed to be normal?
Thanks for any input.

Correct me if i'm wrong... but my needle stays a little bit higher than the 1/4 range... I believe anything between the Hot and Cold mark is normal... As long as itz not overheating or staying in the cold.... itz fine...

VXCl.. you sig says "$300 for a HID kit? HA!"
Do you mean to say that you can get a kit for less?
I'm looking into getting one for my car and they seem higher than that.
