A Emblems

With the first generation "V" shaped trunk, are there certain "A" emblems you have to buy or do you have to bend the flat one's? My other question is the front emblem is really big compared to the aftermarket one's i've seen. Is there a place where i can buy the emblems and they will be a perfect or near perfect fit.

you dont need to bend....

I just replaced mine on my 97 and no bending was required. If you look strait down on the emblem you will see its not bent. Just go the the site that dusbuster recomended and order them, they are easy off and easy on. About the front one, im not sure of what you are saying. The front piece is not just an emblem but also has two long pieces that run off of each side so I believe that they are all the same. Hope things work out.

Are you talking about aftermarket A emblems??? If you are then yes you will have to bend it..otherwise it will be a little off on the sides...i didn't bend mine and don't really think it is needed...I bought my emblems off of www.procarparts.com ...2 for $20...

But if you are talking about the stock emblems then go to the site that dustbuster posted...those emblems will fit on perfectly...

were't you scared you were going to break them? did you put some kind of bondo on the sides? what did you do about the back where the stock emblem has 2 prongs and stick in the plastic piece that sticks out about 1/8 inch out of the trunk? sand it? appreciate the help.

All I did was take the silver A emblem off and just put the new A on....It doesn't look bad at all....the only way you can tell that it is not completely on the car is when you are up close on it...

easy

I wanted to replace the emblems so I ordered them off the site we were refered to by dustbuster. Silver fir the 97 CL.
When we received them
All I did was:
Take some fishing wire and run it behind the gold emblems to get some space between the trunk and the emblem
Remove the emblem
Peal backing off new emblem
stick on
I promise the emblems off that site will fit on the 1st gen. That is if you want to pay the factory price whichi snt too bad.
The only problem is that the emblems are plastic. Me and my dad figured this out when we tock the old ones off. So dont let it suprise you, but this is the most reliable place ive been able to find. Good Luck

Prongs

About the prongs, the old ones we left in. See, the A emblem in the back has two notches that fit into those prongs. So all you have to do is when you remove the old one, just stick the new one in those two old slots, and your done.
