this is effing bs

was having a slight issue with a stutter occasionally at 4200 rpm today. it was bizzarre and only happened sometimes... went ahead and seafoamed my car (through the intake) it was running real smooth after the seafoam. idle was at about 600, wasnt bouncing, moving, car pulled nicely through each gear, stutter didnt occur. i drive it 15 miles after the seafoam, no issues whatsoever.

then i go out around 9, i get in the car, starts up fine, nothing out of the usual.. till i go to hit my throttle, and its like stuck. i want to say sticky, because the second i pushed it harder then necesary it popped free and my engine reved, after this it was fine.

so im out for four hours, get back in my car, start it up.. pop rumble rumble rumble pop rumble rumble rumble pop.

its making a very subtle popping noise through the exhaust, not likes its misfiring or backfiring, and its maybe once every three seconds. whatever, its only when its idiling. i drive it 4 of the 6 miles home.. and my check engine light comes on.

first time ive EVER had a CEL.. cant figure out what the fuck its for. havent tried resetting it, thinking it may have had something to do with the weather or if something got jostled under the hood, and since its pitch black out, ill have to wait till morning.

any idea whats going on? my car also feel like it has no power.. like the AC is running full blast and ive got 1000 pounds of shit in the car.

ideas? im clueless.

Maybe a vaccum hose popped loose you never know and you said it doesnt misfire but you might want to check your plugs they might have gotten build-up from the seafoam

funny, i actually bought some new plugs today. switching them tomorrow, so hopefully thatll do the trick. it could be the vaccum line, that would explain the weird idle.

gah i wish i had an obd code reader lol

You got a Schucks or Napa around you? They usually have code readers you can rent to see what's up. (or you wish you had one cause you want to know now?)

btw, might want to consider changing your oil too since you just did a seafoam, most people do that

if you do the seafoam through the crankcase, not the intake. im due for an oil change in about 1k miles.. wouldnt hurt.

and ive got an autozone, theyve got a free code reader. ill stop by today on the way to do my springs, pads and plugs. if the plugs dont fix it.. im fearing something on my TB is fucked up.

nope nope and nope, it was my spark plugs. im thinking 11 years of buildup being released fucked em over. my # 3 and 4plugs where shot. they had nipples! lol hideous amount of corrosion

its running smooth again, powers back and its idiling back at 600

I think you should change ur oil also after doing seafoam. I did the seafoam through the intake manifold only, and went to change my oil and found all sorts of deposits in it that definitely weren't there before, along with it smelling like i poured fuel in my crankcase, so do yourself a favor n change it out.

Well if you don't pour sea foam into your oil then you need to change it. Air and oil shouldn't meet in there. If they do, sea foam wont solve your problems yet some wax and elbow grease is a diff topic...
I have done it. drove for like 100 miles then changed it along with 1/3 of the can in the PCV.

also be careful about how much u run through your crankcase, i've seen it where guys run more than 1/2 a can and start messing up bearings and seals cuz the seafoam wants to remove any debris or oil from metal surfaces, drying out their bearings and whatnot. that's why I just run it through the IM and not the crankcase. I guess if u don't use too much of it you should be ok though.

your never supposed to use more then 4oz through the crank case, im precise with all my measurements lol the one thing ive never done is run it through my gas tank.. my fuel system could probably use a cleaning.. hmm.

as for going through the crank case, i just thought of this now.. that would mean i would have to change the oil filter as well (which i just did last oil change)

I would never wait that long to change the oil filter. That means the crap from the last oil can be floating around in the new oil, no thanks.

Here's an idea. Oil filter relocation kit. Not only does it add to your oil capacity but for you complaining fluff boys an filter change can be pain free.

uh.. its not a pain to change the filter by any means, nor am i complaining..

when i was growing up, i was taught that a oil was at 3k, oil filter was to be changed every 12k, air filter at 24k, timing belt etc @ 60k.

the example i was given was that just because you use a vacuum once doesnt mean the bag is going to be full.

Oil filters last much longer than just 3k for one change. I do it every change though since they are so cheap.

it's your car, note if you go to valvoline or pennzoil or even jelly lube, they change your filter with each oil change
