effect of a tranny cooler

I've been trying to find some definitive information on the effect of a tranny cooler on our AT's. I'd like to get a ZEX kit but of course I don't want to cause any damage. My car has 34k miles on it right now so I'd like the tranny to last a while longer. I've read that some folks have installed a transmission cooler to help prevent damage, but I've also read posts stating the tranny damage is caused from the ATF not being warmed to the proper temperature. Wouldn't a tranny cooler make this worse? or does it somehow account for this? I've had no luck so far finding an answer to this. I'd appreciate it if someone knows or can point me to the right post.

My understanding of the issue is this: Although we need a certain temperature, at which is optimal for the ATF fluid to work, the tranny cooler will not impede reaching the proper temperature. However, once the ATF reaches optimal temperature, any prolonged heat exposure begins to degrade the fluid and damage the tranny. Hence the benefit of a tranny cooler for N2O.

I'll probably install one in the next week or two (going up to a 75-shot soon)!

I have a tranny cooler put in, even though i'm not running nos or anything. I put one in after my tranny went out on my trip to Reno and San Fran this spring break. I found info on the HondaTech page. Tranny fails due to the ATF being too hot, and doesn't cool down fast enough. Go to the page and do a search. I was able to find all my info there, along with which one that will work well with our cars. Well, at least if you have a 3.0. But i heard adding one in might void the warrenty. I'm not too worried about that because I got my new tranny before my warrenty ended. So i put one in to protect my tranny.
