Dynoed my car on iphone

Seems right. I used the Dynolicious app with my new iPhone. What do you guys think? Is it even the slighest bit accurate? I think so. For sure everything is correct on the second page. (0-60 etc.)
www.dynolicious.com

Please, no: "blah blah blah that stupid thing doesn't work blah blah blah" unless you could back it up. I just did this for fun.

Yeah, it's a 3.0. The 3.0s are rated at 200hp. I guess the intake added another 8hp? Makes sense. I think I could get better times but I honestly NEVER speed so I don't get much practice. This was getting on the highway from the access road at a red light when there was virtually no cars out at night.

it would plug in and mount on the winsheild and use a similar technology that the iphone uses to do this. looks like a sweet iphone app, gonna have to get that

^^no i believe it uses the same sensor the iphone uses to tell when its been tilted to the side to figure out all that stuff through some calculations and other stuff. pretty cool program if you ask me ninja, a real nice find. i know back a few years ago people would have killed for things like that on a phone or otherwise.

not hijacking i promise. they dont offer the iphone for tmobile unless u live in europe. it was "unlocked" to use for GSM carriers.

the iPhone has a built-in LIS302DL, a tiny 3-axis accelerometer. While some people have attempted to use it with the Safari browser (the Tilt game senses changes to the width of the browser page, its basically used as a 1-bit input device), its potential is still somewhat untapped. but apparently these guys figured out a way to use the accelerometer and some advanced math to figure out all the numbers. its called dynolicious.

Dynolicious

I thought that the hp acutally getting to the wheels would be more around 188-190, not 208. Anyone agree?

Nah, The program just utilizes the iPhones accelerometer. Just like a G-Tech.

I unlocked, jailbroke, and hacked the iphone to get it to work 100% with T-Mobile. $5.99 internet and everything.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't HP at the wheels and WHP and the crank?

I personally wouldn't take its results for much.

G-tech's are about as accurate as well...crap. Only time you'll get anywhere 'near' accurate results with a g-tech are with ideal conditions and perfectly flat pavement. And even then the results are off. And I'm no expert, but I doubt the i-phone's software is gonna do exceptionally better.

If it reads crank hp then that would sound about right. If it reads whp, then that's WAY off.

That's a sweet app, regardless of accuracy haha, do you think they have anything like that for anything besides an iphone?

In the video they do say it measures WHP. I'm not sure how an accelerometer COULD measure HP at the crank, so I'd imagine it's measuring at the wheels.

Cool find though. If only I had an iPod (w/ accelerometer)/iPhone...

since its one of teh few phones with a accelerometer and the only one with a decent accelermoter that i know of, teh answer is no. maybe when the technology gets older.

208 crank. if you had 208 wheel it would be completely different.
sounds like a cool thing to do.

I was wondering that myself. It says HP on the stat part so idk where they came up with WHP..

Haha, sure thing.

BTW, forgot to mention. Before you start doing some runs, you have to calibrate it and set your cars weight with your weight. +1 for weighing 125lbs!

Yeah. As long as it's got the 2.0 firmware. You buy it from the app store for $13. Worth it imo.

Hmm… oops, got everything mixed up. HP is at the crank and WHP is at the wheels. So I’m guessing it’s detecting whatever the standard is. You can set the drivetrain loss so that would probably put it at WHP.

This is some really interesting technology, I might have to go and buy myself an iPhone now. I'd like to test this out while I datalog with my laptop to see what type of power gains I get when I advance my ignition timing.

Yup, Winpwn. I used the iClarified guide but found this nice video tutorial for n00bs HERE. Click "more info" and install all the necessary stuff. You will need the Windows 2.0 .NET firmware for XP. If you have Vista then you don't. Hit me up if you need any help.

Yeah, when the iPhone first came out, I saw it as just a huge slab of touch screen that lacked very basic features. (voice calling, voice recorder, video cam, ringtones, games) But since the new 2.0 firmware came out, it is so much more than just a phone.

Ohh and @Gian, To take a screen shot, hold the home button and press the lock button.

www.modmyifone.com

anything you need to know. They also have any firmware that you want along with all jailbreak programs ect...

Nice forum to tell the truth...

A bit off topic, however I Think that I will be buying that app to try it out. Maybe Cydia has something like it for free...

Edit: Cydia has nothing like it.
Now, I'm curious to see what my CLS is pushing with this.

How did you mount it to the car? just put it on the seat i suppose?
