drop or 18's

what would you do first, drop your car, or slap on some 18's?

drop, but not only drop, fully prepare the car for larger wheels.

actually i wouldnt get 18's.. 17s and 19s and 16 stocks.

18s are nice but I feel like 19s are the pimpin way to go, 18s are almost "played".

o yeah, before larger wheels were put on, I'd upgrade my brakes/shocks/struts/bars/+i/h/e.

how much $ u got to work with? Also, if you get 18's with no drop.. it makes the car look even higher than it already is because of our lovely HUGE wheel well.. the car will look like a 4x4...

i been savin up a storm im finally gonna get shocks n struts next weekend then a few weeks later do brakes..

well right now, i have $0.00 in my "cl mods fund"; but for the future i wanted to know what you guys would do first and what would be best.

seems like drop is going to be first.

has anyone bought any ronjon servos for the first gen yet. i want those in the hyper silver, but they are a bit pricey. it would be better if they also included tires like most other rims on the net. i dont know much about tires, but it would be around $150-$200 for each tire right

it depends where u buy the rims from.. some places offer your package deals.. like so..
http://www.wheelmax.com/Specials/specials.html

its good bang for the buck.. but those rims arent anything compared to the actual name brands.. Volks, Racing Hart, Enkei..

the real stuff will cost u around $3,000 with tires..

edit:

try asking around your buddies..

my friend is gonna hook me up with 18" racinghart for 500 bucks.. it just depends on your connections too.. lol. my

i been looking at that wheelsnext site hoping they keep the racing hart cr's in black on sale for like about 2 more months so i can save enough $ to get em after my drop.. so its settled the majority say: drop > rims first

The Cl isn't totalled it was my friend's cl, sorry about the quality of the pics the camera I used is a 5 megapixel put I have to up load at the lowest setting because it takes too long. You can also check out what the car looks like on gunmetal wheels on the link below, but those are 18s the chrome ones are 19s.

I think Getting rims is the 1st step because after you know exactly how much room to work with you will know how far to drop it. if u drop it too much, get uneven tire wear. (Or just get ajustables)

how good the roads are in your area may determine what ride quality you want when you go lower with bigger rims

i have 18's on my car and i haven't dropped it. it will look fine, just don't get so low pro of tires. i am not sure what the size is on the tire but as long as it fills up the wheel well it would look fine.

Ok, here it goes:

1)Wheels: the Chrome 18" x 7.5" 4x114.3 with 42mm offset and a hubcentric 56.1 Centerbore (only hubcentric wheel out there besides the OEM acura wheels). These wheels will allow you to drop the car to any height and not worry about rubbing or vibrations. they also clear rotora BBK. Call in for prices and available discounts at this time or time of purchase.

2)Tires: go with any brand you like, but I personally have had nothing but good experiences with the Toyo Proxes4, I think a 215/40/18 would fit perfect to keep speedo and gears the same. 225/40/18 will provide a bit more comfort if that is an issue.

3)Drop: I would suggest Coilovers, for infinite adjustability, from height to dampening. Stiff or soft, snow or summer height too. Don't really know any brands, maybe skunk2...

4)Grille: We just finished making a sweeet RJ Sport Edition grille for the first Gen CL, comes in either a Bright Silver finish or a jet black finish.

Here are a few pics:

this was a PS of the 18" chrome,

$295 shipped, just for the upper grille housing ready to bolt right in, not doing the lower grille, it'll never work unless I have a CL on hand to test fit each one. which i don't.

I'll do your lower grille for $100 extra if you wanna drive down for me to install it. Let me know 2 dasy ahead of time. And you have to lose the front plate, which can be a potential ticket round here. BTW, sorry for the highjack. no pics of a black one, but you can use this for comparrison:

Ok, most of you say drop first which is what I was thinking.

Now, my girl has a 99' CL 2.3 and wants it dropped. How far down is too much? What's the average drop on 1st gen CL's?
I saw some springs on Ebay which has 2.2"F and 2.0R...is that cool?
