I'm thinking of buying a 1998 3.0CL for $6500, but theres 2 problems to it... I need to fix the AC(it doesn't work) and the hood (it doesn't close right). I mean I love the car and the color, I think its a Candy apple (something like that but its a Candy color).
By the way, I like this car cause I think its unique in its own way, like were I live I have never seen a CL around here. So what I have in mind for it if I decide to buy is fix it up. A lot of people tell me I can do shit to that car, but I know I could! Also, just 'cause I'm a girl they think I can do it but I want to proof all those guy's one day that I will be able !!!!

What do you mean the hood doesn't shut right, is the hood damaged? If not i'd be seriously concerned about some frame damage from a previous accident. AC shouldn't be a problem, but it may be pricey as you don't know exactly what it is. Does it just not blow cold air or does it not work at all? If not at all i'd be real concerned about a previous accident

Just be sure to do your research. Don't buy the car if it's got a salvaged title, and don't buy if it's going to cost you more money to fix it than it would be to buy a CL in better condition.
And IMO, don't buy the 3.0, get a 2.2/2.3 5spd. Autos suck.

ummm i dont know about that not buying salvage cars. my car is salvage its a 99 2.3 i bought it with 42k for 4,500.00 i woudl say if the car runs and no frame damage you should be set. i think people need to learn just becaue it salvage doesnt mean its a junk. most and i know this from experience MOST cars have been in a fender bender are they salvage, NO. because the insurance did not get involved. just look at the car mostly.

all interior speakers replaced - acoustic research
2 amps - 1 rockford fosgate(powering subs) and the other is sony
2 rockford fosgate 10's in bandpass box
and a crossover

i'm not sure on the wattage of the amps

sounds very crisp and clear........and also has a nice "bump" to it

 

i just got mine 4 months ago ...12,995 for a 99 3.0 w/ 70k.....damn!!!

 

Uhh let's not start this argument but I wouldn't discount the 3.0 just yet. Yes autos are kind of ghey, but given the choice of 50-55 more hp and same increase in tq, and a manual, ill take the better motor anyday. Sure they might be fun, but the 2.x's are dogs basically and i don't find going slow to be any fun. Sure they might launch better or whatever, but that's about it. To each his/her own i guess, but saying autos suck is like saying 4-bangers suck (which i will never say).

heh, well I just bought a 99 3.0 with 44k on it, and it's in virtually perfect condition, for only 11,500 before taxes and stuff. Damn I'm good with car salesmen. Now I just need to get some performance parts on it. *wanders off to first gen section*
