decisions decisions

Allright, I know there's been a lot of posts on the subject...v1 vs. v2 AEM CAI. But now it comes down to it...I can get the V1 right now, or have the V2 on backorder and pay an extra hundred dollars. I guess I have the cash, but it would leave me short on other things. The dude at the local honda dealer is getting me Eibach Pro-kit, AEM Underdrive pulleys, and AEM v1(?) for $500, plus help with installation free of charge (he's got a 3.0 cl too). So...which one do you think I should go with? Your 2 cents would be appreciated.

thanks, jake

are they new? if so thats a deal if not its ok. but if ur gonna drop $200 on an intake do urself a favor and pay another 60-80 for the v2. the v1 kills low end power which isnt a plus in our cars. the v2 far less not to mention more peak power and more power throughout the rpms. every dyno i've seen backs this up. as soon as they are in in stock ill be swappin out my v1. im assuming u have an I4

yeah, all brand new parts. If I go with the v2 I'll have to cut a hole in my fender since I have a 97 3.0, but that's not that big of a deal. I just hate to wait.

becuase of its larger size? i wouldnt bother. u got a 3.0 so u can afford not to have an little more extra power. figure $120 for the pullies $200 for pro-kits and 200 for the aem cai. and no shipping so ur saving like 20-40. plus hes installin for u. i would wait for new shocks b4 u drop ur car.

all that for 500 is a really good deal. since you have a 3.0 you wont miss out on the low end. I say go to the bank and get some money and do it now. install alone would cost you at least 200.

So go with the v1 eh? Yeah, I think I will. I can always sell it later and pick up a v2 if I want to. I think I'll get some new shocks in a few months, but I'm impatient so I'm going to get the pro kit now so I can lower it. hey, thanks for the help guys

V1, v2 to me is a waste of money if i'd have to shell out an extra 100$

primarily they take weight off your car, but they also have a bigger diameter than OEM, which is supposed to give more horsepower. Guy at dealer insinuated they were good for 10-15 HP.

pro-kit 120 ebay, pulleys 120 ebay, aem 170 ebay. hows he saving? those are the prices I paid $410 for the whole thing? If your cheap you can do the install of all three parts in a day if you work fast, but the 90 bucks would be a great deal to install all that if your lazy. Look in all the magazines, when they tested intakes the short rams gave about 3-4 hp and the cold airs gave about 10-13. short rams suck. And they said the v2 was almost identical to the v1 so I wouldnt waste the money.

brand new it will be hard to find those items. and unless u get the 3 items from one seller thats 3 times the shipping. he saves there. not to mention the waiting he would have to do to find those things n e ways. the guy is also going to install the parts. $500 is a damn good price, not to mention he will have absolutely no probs with getting brand new products as promised. he has the security of nto getting scammed. and cus its a 3.0 to install new belts one of the engine mounts has to be un bolted and the engine has to be lifted slightly. he will need help!

on a 3.0 i wouldnt worry about the v2 its the I4s that would most benefit becuase of the less loss of low end and increased power throughout the whole power band not to mention another 3-5 more peak hp. the v2 saves and creates more tq than the v1 and we all know the I4s need as much tq as they can get. my aem v1 killed my low end. my dc header gained it back to stock or maybe better.

honestly the prokit really does not need new shocks when you get the sportline definetly recommend it.. but the prokit is honestly not that much of a drop... .. why don't you just save all your money and wait about 5 to 6 months and get air ride like casper... as I always say..
