Well, it wasn't a pot hole for me...but was a 4x4 piece of lumber on I81. It cut a hole the size of the huge zit you're referring to on the front tire, and put the zit on the back tire. It was pretty sketchy. I had to finish my trip and drive another 100+ miles to my destination on the donut-spare.

I'd definitely replace it as soon as you can. The sidewall reinforcements are shot and it is just the strength of the rubber holding the weight.

Hey man, don't be disrespecting RI its alot bigger than you think!: These are the horror stories i hate hearing. I am soon putting on a set of ADR 18's, and with about 2 inches of rubber on them, i dont feel too safe. They are very strong though because they have alot of spokes, so they wont bend, but the tires worry me! Nothing sucks more than having to pay for someone elses mistakes, freggin states need to fix that kind of shit!:P

QUIT YOUR BITCHIN"!!!!!!

I just replace 2 rims ( 18" Konig Ziege's ), one was cracked or broken if you must really know, and the other was bent to hell from the same pothole. The worst part about it is they no longer make my rims and after a search for 3 days across the country, no one has any, so I had to replace all 4 rims and use my warranty for 2 new tires. I just got the dam rims in September!

A side wall bubble, PLEASE! I'll take that any day over what I just shelled out!

The only good thing is I just got my rims in yesterday, and they look better than the first set, the bad news is, my next day off is next Friday, so I hope to have the car ready for HIN in Philly!

Buy a new tire and thank god you didn't get raped like I just did!

Get a new tire ASAP! I have had to replace a tire and a rim about 2 months ago. That damn pothole costed me $300 for 2 new tires and $200 for a new rim. I just hit another pothole the other day and I think I might have screwed up another rim damn it. There is a Honda/Acura parts warehouse about 5 miles from here, so I didn't have to go far. That place is amazing !!

Although your story is pretty bad dajuice, I have it somewhat beat. About a year ago I got brand new 17s and tires for my car. Within the first week of owning them, I was driving home from a hockey game and slammed a pothole at around 60mph. The impact shattered both rims into pieces , but somehow left the tires fine. Luckily since I just got them, I managed to send them back(in pieces) and get them exchanged for a different set of rims, which still set me back around $500. In hindsight though, it was a blessing since those rims looked like ass and I got much better looking ones.

Then, about 6 months later, I was driving on the same street and didn't notice a large rectangular piece of granite that was about 8-10 inches tall lying in the middle of the road and ran over it with both my right wheels again  This sounded sooo painful I thought that I broke the axels, wheels, everything. The thing was soo tall and sharp didn't even move that it shot the right side of my car up and made the most horrible noise that I have ever heard. Luckily it only bent both rims and blew out both tires, another $500

The rims were repaired, but now my steering wheel vibrates a little at higher speeds i guess because the wheel cannot be perfectly returned to its original shape.

But, at least with the first incident I got reimbursed for it after a year, by the contractor who was working in that area because after filing a claim with the city they determined that it was the contractors fault and his insurance company paid up. I also took mad pics of everything and other people had similar damage from that pothole that day also and filed claims.

when you buy new tires get the insurance. I heard Sears is really good in replacing tires that hit potholes if you buy the insurance.

I got my tires covered by the warranty - Thank You Tires.com!!! My rims are a different story. But I do like my choice in replacement rims! Nice and polished, so while I am coating them with Zaino this week, they will shine like hell!

ATLcl: Your story is worse than mine, but I also fucked up my second car a week later, I got swept into a retaining wall by rushing flood waters from all the snow we had that melted away too fast. So I was like a pedestrian for a day until I got some temporary wheels. Kinda fucked up fixing 2 cars at the same time, but what the hey, they are getting improvements, not just replacement parts.

BTW, you'll get to see them, I am driving down to ATL next month to visit my mom in Alpharetta. she lives up the road from Andretti's speed lab and my nephew works there, so i'll be hitting the cart track and have the ride out front chillin'.
