Damn local cops...

Damn Local Cops have nothing better to do! One pulled me over @ 6:30 AM yesterday. He pulled me over for my H.I.D.s. I told him that they were from the new TL. He told me that I needed a receipt from the dealer. Long and short of this story is, local cops suck! Also, selling them in blackmarket...

Sorry to whore on this thread Mods...

Dude why didn't you just say it came on the car? Buddy of mine is a cop, finally asked me a month ago about those "blue lights". I just said most Acuras have them. He just said "oh, cool". As long as they aren't pointed up, they (at least mine) look just like the lights on any other HID reflector car.

. If he really is a buddy, why do you have to lie to him? Is he gonna bust you?

How exactly did I lie lol? I just said most Acuras have em. I didn't specifically say that mine did or didn't lol. I was more thinking about what he'd tell the guys, and what problems I might have with another officer.

He's pretty cool, how many of you have raced a cop car. I let him win tho.

Yes I drilled holes. I put some black electrical tape over the drilled holes and then put heavy duty zip ties through the holes. Not the little crap ones. They are not moving anywhere. I figure I can just put one of those plastic plug things in the hole once I remove them.

Definitly not from a TL. By the way I knew the cop. He has pulled me over for tint once and running a stop sign a diferent time in my old car. He didn't actually write me a ticket but told me I had to get rid of them. I live in PA

would I be able to just hook them up when I got them or would it need modifying?

No modifying at all. They are plug and play. All you do is remove the factory bulb. You then pulg the HID harness into the spot where your factory bulb was. The harness has a HID bulb coming off of it and you insert it into the factory location. Hardest part of the install was fishing the big straps through the sides of the engine compartment.

those are not form a TL, NO stock car or OEM car would ever carry 800k bulbs, all cars with xenon kits carry 4300k if that 5000k

trust me i know i deal with xenon shit all the time and sell it, even ask vxcl too, no kit would carry 8k bulbs oem, and those ballasts are not form a new TL either, TL ballasts have the hook up for the plug in for the harness on the bottom/top side of the box not on any side, like pictured in your thread, just htought i would let you know but nice try anyways

He just said that to the cop, he didn't try to say they were really from a TL.

7000K+ in our cars looks like 4300K from stock HID cars. The light on the road is more bluish, but how it looks to an oncoming car is very close.

Thanks proaudio for clearing that up! You should have seen the cops face when I told him. He was so surprised, like he never thought of that before.

I used heavy duty Zip Ties. They are approximatly 2.5 feet long and 3/8" wide. They have them in black also. If you check out the pics, I tucked the driver side in there nicely. The passenger side was no problem being I have a CAI.

true that a higher kelvin rating is needed in a halogen reflector to mimic an oem 4100k xenon reflector setup. prob is there is no set standards so 7000k may be blue from one company and purple form another.

i would recommend 5300-6000k if you guys are getting kits. i do prefer form over function so some may feel thats conservative.

on a side note the fact that your setup caught the cops attention is a sign your color must have really stood out or you had them aimed to high. or you were dis something else stupid and then he called you out on them. anyways cops are assholes most of the tiem so who knows.

peace

VXCL is the man when it comes to HIDs. For the record, I was sitting at a light behind 1 car facing East. The cop came south and made a right heading west and drove right past me. He then did a U-turn and hopped in line a few cars behind me. I then pulled out and made a left heading North. He got right on my ass and I turned off into a shopping center right away because I was heading to get coffee. His main issue was that they are blue. You can see when driving that the drivers side is pointed down and the passenger side is regular. I think if they were in projectors it wouldn't be as bad becuse they wouldn't spray as much (more controlled beam.) His other issue is that he had nothing better to do at 6:30 AM.

thanks bro
yeah it prob wasnt the aiming. if they are blue thats prob the dead giveaway. your better off with purple. i would think the lighting is 1000x better then your halogen setup so maybe you should sell your kit on ebay and buy lower rating set or go the retro route. but since that cop knows your ride just a change in color would satisfy him seeing a change. i could never go back to halogen. cant wait to change my legacy but at least it already as some of the brightest h7 projectors i have seen.
