Couple of questions bout my acura
I apologize if any of this is listed in the forums or int he noob guide. i may have missed it. But i had a couple of questions about modding my acura.
My acura right now is a completely stock 1997 3.0 and has 128k miles.
My car is a daily driver and i drive about 750 miles a month.
I want so increase the preformance///sound of my car but not have to worry about reliabaility issues (tranny...).
I understand a CAI will not affect my transmission greatly. but im wondering if preformance headers and/or cat back exhaust will take away form the life of my tranny. I am already ordering a tranny cooler to preserve the transmission. I only drive with a heavy throttle when im bored lol, but uasully i keep it under 3.5k rpm. So should i stop at CAI? or can i go to the headers n exhaust?
PS: i want to put HID or some extra bright headlights and highbeams in my car, will i need an amp or something to run it smoothly?

headers won't affect your tranny, getting a tranny cooler is good, make sure you top off the fluid
And no you don't need an amp for hid's Sorry it was a funny question

Ok thanks, and will the exhaust affect the tranny? and if it doesnt. what does affect the tranny and take away from its reliability so i can stay away from those.
ps. lol a guy at craigens told me that HID were 150 watt bulbs and my bulbs were 30 watts. so i didnt know if that was a big difference.

Hid are lower wattage than your standard halogens. The person from kragen was probably refering to "hid Looking bulbs" No bolt ons will affect your transmission. It is the way a person drives the car that will affect it... Good luck and happy modding

as for lighting, HIDs are in the area of 35 watts, while your stock 9006s go out at about 50 ish watts, so HIDs are gentler on the electrical system............. but if you want more light id say go for the 9005 conversion, I did it on my CL and it did wonders to night time visibility, I see everything I need and then some
most mods are fairly easy on the tranny until you start getting into forced induction and Nitrous Oxide, all that good stuff WILL affect the life of the motor as well as the transmission

It's only $30 to change your halogen fluid...
Here's the proof: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9FefIzya7fw
Make sure that your secondary transmission is installed in your car.
