yes it will fit........and yeah it does look like stock but I heard it's suppose to give you better gains then the AEM. No worries about hydrolock (not like I am), easy to clean, and maybe cheaper (not sure on this one) the S2000 Ice box cost $350 but thats direct from comptech. I'll try and find some dyno results.

Hey man, that humming is going to happend with any intake you get on a 3.0. Its a pain in the ass, but if you want the HP I guess we have to deal with it.

this is dyno results for a civic........i think.............
I know it's not a V6 and some may say you can't compare the civic to the accord but it gives you an idea of the icebox.

Hey Nugs3, I feel your pain about the rambling
on about the other intakes. According to Comptech
the Accord Icebox won't fit our CL. I'm just wondering
if there's a way to make it fit.

Checkout my posting on the comptechusa.com webforum.

This makes no sense............ quote:

"the 97-99 CL is more similar to the 96-97 Accord V6, which we have no parts for. "

No parts for the V6 Accord??? They are making one for the V6 so it's gotta fit. Just like the AEM CAI theres no application for the 1st gen CL but it fits.

You're absolutely right, comptech contradicts themself as you will see them say that parts on the 98-02 Accord will fit ours, now our
car is more similar to the 96-97, it makes no sense.

I've been waiting since Oct-01 for them to finish this and now with every part other part from a 98-02 fitting out car this one won't.

FYI - I've seen this icebox advertised for pre-production orders of
$220. I'm not sure if that's delivered.

i installed one on my friends 00 SI. it definitely works. i like the sound of my aem at idle over the comptech. also the ice box is very ugly, but it does work. also the dyno above is on a ITR which is a DOHC engine so i woulnt say the icebox is gonna be better on our SOHC then an AEM or injen. not to mention they dont say if that ITR had any other mods. if its rated at 195hp at the crank stock and that dyno has it hittin almost 190 at the wheels. i think there's more then just an iceboxunder the hood.

Forgive me, I'm kind of new on this subject. Can you have both the ice box and a CAI installed on your car at the same time, or do you have to pick one or the other? And if that is the case, would you recommend waiting to get a CAI until we find out if the ice box will indeed fit a 1st gen 3.0 and if it will be better for the money?

Thanks

You can only have one or the other...not both.

My question is...How does the icebox out perform a CAI? It looks like shit...plastic box. Hell, people would think I was stock again. I can't belive they want $200-300 for a box of plastic. Gay.

Thanks man, there was some really good info in those 2 threads. After reading it seems the Ice Box will indeed be a little faster than current CAI, however at a cost of sound (not to mention looks under the hood). Although I havn't heard the car with CAI on it yet, I think I will really want that sound over the Ice Box.

So now what it comes down to is to get AEM, Injen or generic CAI... I have been leaning towards generic since it seems most people agree a tube is a tube and they pretty much work the same as the name brand ones, and since I already bought a K&N air filter (still in box) I figured I could just get the generic one and add it to that. Most people seem to say the air filter is really where your HP gain is from anyway.

However I read in there someone saying that a generic one won't have anything on it about being CARB approved, and in CA could be a problem to get smogged. Also is AEM the only one that comes with a lifetime warranty?

And what's this about "Denso Iridium IK16" spark plugs, can we use those on the 1st gen 3.0 CL, and are they really worth it to increase the low-end torque that a CAI vs. SR would'nt gain?

As far as the air by-pass valve, at least that is one thing I have made a decision on, and in So. Cal especially I don't need that at all. Getting closer to the decision....

AEM / Injen / Generic.... hmm

Any help is appreciated!

wow very impressed with your readings.............If you have the money why not go straight for the AEM CAI..............the cheap ebay ones will be just fine also. you can find one for $50-$80 here............Look for the 98-00 V6 Accord
http://search.ebay.com/search/search...old+air+intake
I don't think they have a warranty on them, but for $50 what more can you expect.

As for the plugs I'm getting a set shipped to me next week. If you want more info on them do a search. or I'll post info on it later today when I get to work. Yes they will fit the 3.0
