Cold idle problems
Cold idle problems
Trying to figure out why my 98 CL 2.3 will not idle when its cold. Its fine when I first start it, but as soon as I drive it and push in the clutch it dies. It continues to do this till the engine warms up, then its fine. I had the OBD codes read and a PO108 code (High voltage at MAP), and PO1382 (Cylinder position sensor) were showing. I don't think they would affect the idle. It runs great when its warm. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
the map and the cps both have to do with the cold idle (especially the map sensor) they work togather to advance the timing when the car is cold. if one or the other is not working it will throw a code for both. try the map sensor. look at it and it should have a sigle vaccum line going to it. follow the vaccum line to the manifold and make sure its not cracked or broken AT ALL. the cylinder position sensor which i think is accually the crank position sensor is prolly ok, which is great considering a new one is like $300+. if all looks well unplug the map sensor (wire bundle) and see if it does the same thing. if it does theres ur problem. i dont know how much a new one is, however its prolly alot cheaper than the cps.
