Cold Air Intake
I just got my 2.3CL in January and im dieing to get a cold air intake, but as usual money is the restraint. I want a full length not a short ram. From what I have read and from price I am leaning toward an Injen race division CAI, but I know a lot of people swear by AEM. Basically, which one is the most bang for the buck and where are there good prices online?

dude...from what i believe....a CAI is a CAI.....its a 3" peice of piping with a filter on the end....i bought a off brand CAI on ebay for $100, put a K&N cone filter on the end and a AEM bypass valve on it and the thing is sooo sweet.....do what i did, you save $$$....

defenitely go with injen, it uses 3 " pipping. AEM uses smaller diameter pipping , and you can put a bypass on a injen. Ive seen dynos of cars with name brand CAI and non-name brand CAI and it does make a difference, not a whole lot but with our engines we could use all the power we can get. Go for the injen
Another thing about non name brand intakes is that when you pop the hood people are like wtf is that

As I was already leaning towards the Injen that was enough to convince me. A lot of generic things are good but I dunno about for something attached to your engine. Hopefully it will come by Friday so i can install it this weekend. I'll let you know how it is as soon as I have it.

thats cool...i mean thats just what i think...why spend like $250 for a brand new AEM CAI when i spend $100 on mine and mines 3" wide piping and a K&N filter and a AEM bypass valve.....
I mean its cool...people can think what they want, but for me, i didnt feel like spending an extra $150 for a AEM sticker on my CAI with the tubing looks the same anyway......oh well...people can do what they want....thats just my

I dunno know about the TL vids....it's a TL...........cool vids though.
But
That's like me saying, "Get a KN filter for your 3.0CL because look at what it can do for this GSXR-750."
If we saw one TL with an Injen and another TL with a regular old generic Ebay CAI, going at it...that would say something.
I haven't gotten a CAI yet, but from all reseach so far:
Most people replace the filter that comes with the CAI with a KN. So simple deduction says that any given CAI brand consists of a mendrel bent tube as the core component. THEN features come into play. AEM and their by-pass valve and Injen having 3" tubes.
So why not get a 3" generic tube off ebay, KN filter, and AEM by pass? Then get a AEM decal and slap it on
I honestly cannot see how one mendrel bend tube with a decal differ from another mendrel bend tube with a different decal. Other than diameter....and even then, the performance difference is marginal cause your TBI and injectors and fuel management system is stock and a 2" or a 3" won't matter. Perhaps aluminum compounds may differ and there's a weight difference.
That's what I plan on doing....generic Ebay CAI for $60, trash the filter that comes with it and get a K&N, a AEM bypass, and one cool decal If weight is a factor, I'll loose some weight and clean out my back seat.

100 bucks for a generic cai is too much. I have seen aem for 180 bucks with the buy it now option. by the time you by the k&n filter you are almost even. I you want a cheap cai get the one on ebay for $26 with buy it no.

The CAI should be here by next Friday. Anyone know a site with good install instructions for 2.3? Ive read the biggest downfall of Injen is poor installation instructions and want to get the install done as quickly and correctly as possible.
