Coilovers...
Coilovers...
Since its been slow here the last few days....
Let's talk about coilovers. I've been whining about my HP coilover sleeves for the last few months. I think I might sell my KYBs and pick up something new. I thought about the prokit/koni combination, but with 18s I want to make sure the wheel gap is exactly what I want. I've been thinking about either getting the Tein Basic or the Tein SS. I know the difference is that the Basics don't have dampening. After having most of my teeth fall out with my current setup, I want something that rides close to stock, but still allows me to drop it to a 1/2 finger gap. Anyone familiar with how the Tein Basics ride quality is? From the way dennis and ghander describe the SS, they're spring rate isn't too aggressive, and I can set the dampeners so the ride is 'almost' stock.
Cliff Notes: Coilover sleeves suck, I want some Teins. Anyone have experience with the Basics, or should I just spring for the SS?

I don't have any experience with the Tein basics, but Tein says it all. They're one of the top companies out there and I'm sure they will ride way better than GC's with aftermarket shocks. I know the SS are sweet. Now that I think of it, I really want can-overs.
You're right. Tein SS ride almost like stock. Although the 16-way adjustable dampeners are nice, I haven't fooled around with them enough. I was going to buy the Tein basics but for $150 more, you can't go wrong with 16 way adjustables. Do yourself a favor and get Tein's. I only wish I got bags.
