Clunk Noise When I Start!?!
Clunk Noise When I Start!?!
my car is weird i tell you! i brought it to the dealership and they didnt do nothing about it! so i come to you guys and ask for help. anyhow my car when i do i stop and i gas it kinda hard my car goes clunk! and i can feel like the gears grinded a little or something but the thing is that my car is a automatic not a manual. and if i do it enough times when i get out of the car i can smell like burn rubber or gears grind smell. any feedback would be nice! OH yeah i used to get that clunk alot but ever since i filled up my last tank with 87 octane i got a lot less of it i used to fill it with 89 octane.
From what you describe, my car does the same when the tranny is cold. Maybe for the first 5 minutes of driving.
If I pull up to a stop sign or light, and don't wait for the gears to mesh, then floor it, it will go CLUNK (like it's slipping)! This stops after 5 minutes or so (and doesn't do it at all when warm), but there's no buring smell!
I just simply take it easy for the first 5 minutes!

yep dealership didnt say anything and yes it true it happens most of the time when my car just started but it still happens when my car has been running for 20 mins+ just not as much and other feedback?
MY NOT-AT-ALL-EDUCATED OPINION:
I had a Probe that did a similar thing before the tranny went out. It might be that you are leaking transmition fluid from a broken seal or gasket. This can be a sign of a tranny that is about to croak, and the burning that you smell is the leaked fluid burning up after it leaked onto the engine. I hope not, but your tranny might be seeing its last days.
