clunk clunk clunk

As im driving my slammed biitch I hear clunk clunk clunk clunk coming from the front driver side wheel well. Does anyone else have this happen? I think something keeps hitting something but I have no idea what is it. It has been happening for a while now but never really seemed to be anything bad just an annoying noise. Just sounds like sumtin is lose and hitting around but i dunno what it could be. I might jack it up at my friends place in a week or two but the shop i brought it to didnt really know what it was. Also if im reversing and my wheel is turned all the way i hear CLUNNNNNNNNNNNK much louder then the normal clunking. Anyone have any idea?! this is really gettin on my last nerve...along with my doors locking by themselves 100x while im driving!! errr

I'd say cv boot also. If not, I'd say its the control arm hitting the fender well.

well their is no sign of greese leakage or anything...but it might be the control arm hitting the fender, because the camber kit exteneded the control arm like to the limits. Also i've recenlty noticed the liner like in the curve of the wheel well is coming off i like tucked it in should i just cut the hanging piece off?!

I removed the top parts of the fender liners. It helped from all the rubbing.

i think u need brake pad shimms. thier little skinny metal plates that go immediatly behind the pads. if u dont have them everytime u hit a bump the pads rattle up and down. and when ur turned thiers cambered stress on the rotor so they rattle worse. cv joints are more of a click click click and only usually when ur turning. unless thier about to break. (which ive seen) and that sucks.....alot.

Yeah I hit a big hole today and front passenger side whadya know... I think I broke off something or at least part of the fender liner because when i go over little uneven parts of the road I get the burning rubber smell a long with a sound which can be described as you were sticking something into a plastic fan.

cut off the plastic Im going to do that tomorrow... or try to at least... I wasn;t able to get the car up in the air tonight... to dark... I'll see whats going on under their when there is some light.

since you say you have a slammed bitch, does the clunking sound come when you go over a bump or pothole? Do you have stock shocks? That happens to my car every now and then and I'm pretty sure its because my shocks are blown.....almost positive mine are blown

are you 5 spd??????????

oh shit man if you are... is it usually only when you are turning out of a parking place??? Cause I had that for a while and didn't have a clue. It ended up being the differential fell apart and my tranny was DONE! Hope thats not what your's is.

One way to check if it has anything to do with the tranny or not, is go kinda slow and put it in nuetral...then give the brakes a few taps and try to make the noise happen. If it happens in neutral it has nothing to do with your tranny.

Right now mines making a noise every once in a while that sounds like it's coming from the same place you described. I think it's just something with the suspension, so hopefully you'll find the problem and let me know

check to see if you can see where the control arm is hitting? Is this the same noise we've talked about? If so I think Repo found a fix in a thread a long time ago.

It may even be the sway bar bottoming out. I've noticed that mine has definately rubbed on the car.

If it is the cv joint and its already fucked up i really woudnt keep driving it anyway. I had a car like that and just ignored it, damn axle fell off in the parking lot at my college. Makes it a lot harder to get to a mechanic with the axle off. But i'm not sure that that is what the problem is, just a little story from past experience.

Jack up the car, and look at the end of the control arm, where the balljoint is. If you see missing paint or that the tip of the control arm is bent, you will need to pound out the fender well for clearance.

It could be that they did that before the springs sagged. Now that they are sagging, the car is prolly getting lower.
