CL's handle well in snow
it snowed like crazy here in seattle. and the roads where sooo slippery. we got about 8 inches of snow in one day.. its crazy.. anyways.. i went out tonight to home depot to pick up a faucet for our tub (was leaking) and i went locally cause the freeway was worse (according to news) so i went, and i got to a huge hill.. and there was a porche 911 infront me.. he spun out and went circling down the hill i guess he stepped on his brakes.. and he was lucky there wasnt any oncoming traffic. i was afraid that i would do the same thing too.. and since he's down there this time.. i might run into him.. so i popped it into 1... rolled down.. i made it down to the bottom without spinning or even fish tailing once.. (i even tapped the brake a few times) i went by the porche and asked if he was okay.. he said he was fine.. heh heh.. i felt like i was driving a super expensive car.. asking a porche owner if he was okay.. haha... and the drive home was even better.. a bunch of guyz where stuck on a hill and had to slide over to the shoulder so that i can pass.. there was about 7 of them watching me make it up the hill with ease.. probably regreting getting a civic.. heh.. it had blue lights.. so they must've been ricers too...

Totally agreed, I was out and about today in our Lexus and even with 4wd and all that fancy traction control stuff I did not feel totally in control of the car. Then later I needed some milk from the store and decided to drive the CL, you know to see how it would fare in the snow, and it was just fine, I was easy on the breaks, and just used the transmission to slow me down. My biggest problem was the QFC parking lot, the car would not stay between the lines, it kept sliding.

sorry, but i have to differ: my CL did not fare so well in the snow happening up north in Vancouver...
it might be because my tires are stock back from '98 (only 40,000km!!) but the CL wasn't getting along too well with the icy roads....must be the crappy Canadian roads...

ill say it again. my cl with dunlop winter m3s is AMAZING in the snow. better then my gmc 4wd pickup. even dropped 2+"!!! even pushing the car to 60 in 9" of snow (empty lot of course!) i would never drive on the road like that (thats plain dumb). my only problems were
1. had to keep getting out to clear the snow off my headlamps (im too low)
2. damn car had too much traction for spins and dougnuts.

yeah it snowed here in vegas about 4-5 inches which is crazy as hell considering vegas has a reputation of having very hot summers...anyways the cl had too much traction to do donuts n spins. ill post pics of the snow once i get my digicam figured out

I realize that it's all about the tires, but my CL is absolutely useless in the snow. The first day I had it the tires had about half tread on them and I ended up in a snowbank on a side street (going maybe 10mph). Just this year, with brand new tires on it, I spun into a full 360 on a highway offramp with about an inch of snow on the ground.
Every other car I've had has handled snow better, including a 78 Volvo and an old rear wheel drive BMW 320i.

Mine also did well on a trip to Mammoth last month. I ignored the CHP chain restrictions on 395 and had no problems. However sometimes they do check for chains/cables. Does anyone have any recommendations/experiences with chains/cables. Any clearance issues? Especially since I have the prokit.
